Comparative Morphology of Fruiting Bodies of the Ectomycorrhizal Ammonia Fungus Hebeloma danicum in Serpentine and Neighboring Non‐Serpentine Soils

open access: yesEcological Research, Volume 41, Issue 6, November 2026.
We investigated how fruiting body morphology of the ammonia fungus Hebeloma danicum varies between serpentine and non‐serpentine soils. By comparing pileus and stipe traits across habitats, we found consistent morphological differentiation associated with serpentine environments.

Present and Future Distribution of Apochloa molinioides and Trichanthecium wettsteinii in the Brazilian Campos Rupestres: Ecological Modeling for Climate‐Smart Conservation

open access: yesBiotropica, Volume 58, Issue 6, November 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐elevation ecosystems are among the most sensitive to climate change, responding more rapidly than low‐elevation environments. However, few studies have shown the effects of climate change on grass species in these environments. Among them, Apochloa molinioides and Trichanthecium wettsteinii (Poaceae) are notable for occurring in high ...

Evolution in arid environments: the role of betalains, succulence, and medullary bundles

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 252, Issue 3, Page 1250-1268, November 2026.
Overview of the study system. Summary The flowering plant clade Caryophyllales includes many succulent species that grow in drought conditions. Many Caryophyllales species also have betalain pigmentation and medullary bundles, both of which have been linked to stress tolerance, albeit with less precise functional characterisation.
