Expression, purification, and DNA-binding activity of the Herbaspirillum seropedicae RecX protein

Protein Expression and Purification, 2004
The Herbaspirillum seropedicae RecX protein participates in the SOS response: a process in which the RecA protein plays a central role. The RecX protein of the H. seropedicae, fused to a His-tag sequence (RecX His-tagged), was over-expressed in Escherichia coli and purified by metal-affinity chromatography to yield a highly purified and active protein.

Identification of NH+4-regulated genes of Herbaspirillum seropedicae by random insertional mutagenesis

Archives of Microbiology, 2007
Random mutagenesis using transposons with promoterless reporter genes has been widely used to examine differential gene expression patterns in bacteria. Using this approach, we have identified 26 genes of the endophytic nitrogen-fixing bacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae regulated in response to ammonium content in the growth medium.

Potentiality of Herbaspirillum seropedicae as a Platform for Bioplastic Production

2016
Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) is a polyhydroxyalkanoate produced by several bacteria as carbon storage and reducing equivalent sink. The production of PHB is a hot topic in biotechnological research due to its properties similar to oil-based plastics, while PHB is readily degradable in the environment.

Structural organization and regulation of the nif genes of Herbaspirillum seropedicae

Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1997
Abstract The promoter regions of nifA and nifH genes of Herbaspirillom seropedicae have been isolated and investigated, and the nifA promoter has been characterized in detail. Both regions contain a −24 −12 type promoter and NifA-binding sites; the nifA promoter also has an NtrC-binding site.

Capsular and extracellular polysaccharides of the diazotrophic rhizobacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae Z78

Microbiology, 2012
The diazotrophic endophyte Herbaspirillum seropedicae Z78 was shown to possess a capsule containing two high-molecular-weight glycolipids, one of which was of a lipopolysaccharide nature. These glycolipids differed considerably in the fatty acid composition of their lipid components.

Spectroscopic characterization of a truncated hemoglobin from the nitrogen-fixing bacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae

JBIC Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry, 2008
The Herbaspirillum seropedicae genome sequence encodes a truncated hemoglobin typical of group II (Hs-trHb1) members of this family. We show that His-tagged recombinant Hs-trHb1 is monomeric in solution, and its optical spectrum resembles those of previously reported globins. NMR analysis allowed us to assign heme substituents. All data suggest that Hs-

Regulation of nif genes expression in Azospirillum brasilense and Herbaspirillum seropedicae

1989
Several ethylenediamine (EDA)-resistant mutants of A. brasilense were isolated and found to depress nitrogenase in the presence of high NH 4 + concentrations. These mutants were defective in NH 4 + uptake and capable of excreting NH4 + in N-free semi-solid medium. A gene library of H. seropedicae strain HZ78 was constructed in cosmid pVK102.

[Rice endogenous nitrogen fixing and growth promoting bacterium Herbaspirillum seropedicae DX35].

Wei sheng wu xue bao = Acta microbiologica Sinica, 2014
To screen efficient nitrogen fixation endophytes from rice and to analyze their growth-promoting properties. We isolated strains from the roots of rice in the field where it has a rice-rice-green manure rotation system for 30 years. Efficient strains were screened by acetylene reduction assay.
