Framework for an expert evaluation for the evolution of weed resistance

open access: yesJulius-Kühn-Archiv, 2014
The apparent rate of evolution of resistance of weeds to herbicides has increased substantially over the past decade. Data suggests phenotypic expression is affected by the mechanism of action of the herbicide, the taxonomy of the weed, the extent and ...

The factors driving evolved herbicide resistance at a national scale [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Repeated use of xenobiotic chemicals has selected for the rapid evolution of resistance, threatening health and food security at a global scale.

The Effect of Foliar and Soil Application of Flufenacet and Prosulfocarb on Italian Ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum L.) Control

open access: yesAgriculture, 2020
Italian ryegrass (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) can be a troublesome weed that may causes high yield losses to several crops. Ryegrass resistance to the typically used acetolactate synthase (ALS) and acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACCase) inhibiting herbicides ...

Adopting epidemiological approaches for herbicide resistance monitoring and management

open access: yes, 2020
The widespread use and increasing reliance on herbicides for weed control has resulted in a global epidemic of evolved herbicide resistance in weed populations.

Discovery of mechanisms of herbicide resistance using the liverwort Marchantia polymorpha

open access: yes, 2022
Non-target site resistance (NTSR) to herbicides in weeds is a threat to global crop yields. Few specific alleles conferring NTSR have been identified, only two of which involve loss of gene function.

Is herbicide resistance an undissolute problem?

open access: yesRevista de Ciências Agroveterinárias, 2017
Recently, Weed Science journal published a special issue on weed resistance to herbicides (Weed Science, Volume 64, 2016), regarding many issues on the importance and the impact of the weed resistance on agronomic and social aspects.

Global patterns of herbicide resistance evolution in Amaranthus spp.: an analysis comparing species, cropping regions and herbicides [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Herbicide resistance in weeds is an evolutionary process. Although there is a great global diversity of weeds, independent origins of herbicide resistance evolution have been shown to converge into similar molecular and physiological resistance ...

Polar Lattice‐Distorted Motifs Enable Synergy of Local Polarization/Dipole Fields for Concurrent Glyphosate Wastewater Remediation and CO Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Photocatalytic treatment of glyphosate herbicide in agricultural wastewater is achieved through the cooperative effect of the local polarization field and dipole field mediated by lattice‐distorted carbon nitride. Glyphosate is completely degraded via selective C─P bond cleavage with a CO evolution rate of 1166 µmol g−1 h−1.

Trp548Met mutation of acetolactate synthase in rice confers resistance to a broad spectrum of ALS-inhibiting herbicides

open access: yesCrop Journal, 2021
Herbicide resistance in crop plants is valuable for integrated weed management in agriculture. Herbicide resistant rice, in particular, is important to management of weedy rice, a close relative of cultivated rice and a noxious weed prevalent in rice ...

Ban Glyphosate—Does It Affect the Swedish Farmers' Willingness to Grow Cover Crops?

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The cultivation of cover crops is one of the new Eco‐scheme practices introduced in Sweden. This study examines how the design of policy attributes of these schemes influences farmers' willingness to grow cover crops on arable land, with particular focus on the potential impact of a glyphosate ban.
