Insights into biomass accumulation and challenges in grain yield prediction of elite breeding materials using UAV‐based vegetation indices in soft red winter wheat

open access: yesThe Plant Phenome Journal, Volume 9, Issue 1, December 2026.
Abstract High‐throughput phenotyping (HTP) techniques have brought new opportunities to understand and evaluate key traits in plant breeding programs. Combining multiple measures through time and random regression models permits a more comprehensive understanding of the genetic and environmental effects on trait expression over time. This study aims to

Integrated genomic and transcriptomic approaches reveal oxidative stress adaptation mechanisms in a mesotrione‐resistant Amaranthus tuberculatus biotype

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6387-6398, July 2026.
Integrated GWAS and transcriptomics in a Canadian waterhemp biotype reveal mesotrione resistance is polygenic and metabolically driven. Significant SNPs and 187 herbicide‐responsive genes point to enhanced redox homeostasis, glutathione‐linked detoxification, lipid/secondary metabolism, and oxidative stress responses. Resistance arises from coordinated,

The effects of climate and habitat on Butterfly populations

open access: yes, 2006
Biodiversity is threatened globally and there is a need to monitor and understand future changes. Rigourous assessment of trends in insect populations is difficult because they are a species-rich, yet little known taxa.

Climate change‐driven expansion of goosegrass highlights risks to global food production

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6494-6508, July 2026.
Climate change is expanding the climatic suitability of Eleusine indica into temperate agricultural regions, increasing its overlap with major soybean and maize production areas. These findings highlight a growing global threat to food security and the need for proactive weed management strategies.

THE DISTRIBUTION OF BENEFITS RESULTING FROM BIOTECHNOLOGY ADOPTION

open access: yes
The purposes of this study are two-fold: (1) to estimate the size of total benefits arising from the adoption of agricultural biotechnology, and (2) to measure the distribution of total benefits among key stakeholders along the production and marketing ...

Cirsium arvense management with electrical weed control and clopyralid

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 7, Page 6575-6584, July 2026.
Electrical weed control (EWC) treatments reduced Cirsium arvense biomass by ≤95% and suppressed new shoot emergence by 70–95%, achieving control comparable to clopyralid. Sequential or integrated applications enhanced efficacy, demonstrating EWC's potential as a nonchemical tool for perennial weed management in orchard systems.
