Selection for persistence of endophyte‐free meadow fescue under intensive grazing versus frequent mowing

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Cattle grazing meadow fescue pasture in remnant oak savanna near Fennimore, Wisconsin. Abstract Background Meadow fescue (Schedonorus pratensis (Huds.) P. Beauv.) is highly adapted to managed rotational grazing systems with sufficient rest periods to promote regrowth and sward longevity.

Isolation and Identification of Chicken-Derived Lactic Acid Bacteria: In Vitro Probiotic Properties and Antagonistic Effects against Salmonella pullorum, Staphylococcus aureus, and Escherichia coli

open access: yesMicroorganisms
The development of probiotics capable of quickly colonizing the intestines of animals is important in promoting the healthy growth of livestock. The aim of this study was to screen lactic acid bacteria (LAB) from the intestinal microbiota of chickens ...

Seasonal drivers of plant–soil–microbial community structure and functions in Western Himalayan grasslands, Pakistan

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Plant species richness was greater in summer in both alpine and subalpine grassland ecosystems. Soil moisture demonstrates significant positive correlations with soil organic carbon and total nitrogen across seasonal periods. Microbial α‐diversity peaks during summer but maintains functional stability across seasons.

The gut microbiome promotes the growth performance of black soldier fly larvae by detoxifying uric acid

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates the detrimental effects of exogenous uric acid (UA) on the growth of black soldier fly (BSF) larvae, highlighting the role of gut microbiota in UA degradation. We isolated UA‐degrading bacterial strains associated with BSF, including Enterococcus faecalis AHAU24.

The SCD5 Gene Modulates Adipogenic Differentiation via the WNT5B Signaling Pathway in Xinjiang Brown Cattle

open access: yesAnimals
This study investigated the role of SCD5 in bovine preadipocyte proliferation and adipogenic differentiation. SCD5 overexpression suppressed proliferation, reducing the percentage of EdU-positive cells and overall cell viability (p < 0.05).
