Entropic herding

open access: yesStatistics and Computing, 2023
AbstractHerding is a deterministic algorithm used to generate data points regarded as random samples satisfying input moment conditions. This algorithm is based on a high-dimensional dynamical system and rooted in the maximum entropy principle of statistical inference.

Elephant Herding Optimization: Variants, Hybrids, and Applications

open access: yesMathematics, 2020
Elephant herding optimization (EHO) is a nature-inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithm based on the herding behavior of elephants. EHO uses a clan operator to update the distance of the elephants in each clan with respect to the position of a ...

Herding in humans [PDF]

open access: yesTrends in Cognitive Sciences, 2009
Herding is a form of convergent social behaviour that can be broadly defined as the alignment of the thoughts or behaviours of individuals in a group (herd) through local interaction and without centralized coordination. We suggest that herding has a broad application, from intellectual fashion to mob violence; and that understanding herding is ...

Gender and herding

open access: yesJournal of Empirical Finance, 2021
Abstract This study uses a unique dataset from a large anonymous brokerage firm to examine the herding behavior of Chinese individual investors. The empirical evidence reveals that females are more inclined to follow the behavior of ‘same-sex’ investors. Herding and Social Pressure in Trading Tasks: A Behavioural Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We extend the experimental literature on Bayesian herding using evidence from a financial decision-making experiment. We identify significant propensities to herd increasing with the degree of herd-consensus. We test various herding models to capture the

Investor Herding Behavior in Infrastructure Companies on the IDX: Data Panel Approach

open access: yesSociety, 2022
This research aims to examine the behavior of herding investors due to the information on interest rates and trading volume. By using daily infrastructure company data on the IDX, it is found that interest rates have a negative effect, while volume has a

Bimodule herds

open access: yesJournal of Algebra, 2009
The notion of a bimodule herd is introduced and studied. A bimodule herd consists of a $B$-$A$ bimodule, its formal dual, called a pen, and a map, called a shepherd, which satisfies untiality and coassociativity conditions. It is shown that every bimodule herd gives rise to a pair of corings and coactions.
