Herd culture and herd immunity
Abstract Although communicable diseases affect our bodies, they occur in a society that interprets and gives them meaning. Herd immunity provides the body protection; however, long-term protection requires shifts in the way people interpret and respond to disease, cultural transformation that enables the development of the knowledge, habits and skills ...

The Gibbs sampler is one of the most popular algorithms for inference in statistical models. In this paper, we introduce a herding variant of this algorithm, called herded Gibbs, that is entirely deterministic. We prove that herded Gibbs has an $O(1/T)$ convergence rate for models with independent variables and for fully connected probabilistic ...

The Decision to Apply for Bank Credits: A Preliminary Investigation of MSME Herding Behavior from Indonesia [PDF]
It is likely that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) owners apply for credit not because of their intention but because they follow other MSME owners’ behavior. The behavior to follow the general tendency is commonly known as herding.

This review focuses on the application of synthetic biodegradable microarray patches (MAPs) in sustained drug delivery. Compared to conventional MAPs which release drugs into the skin in an immediate manner, these implantable MAPs release drugs into skin microcirculation gradually as the biodegradable polymers degrade, thus offering sustained release ...

Herd behavior in financial markets: an experiment with financial market professionals [PDF]
We study herd behavior in a laboratory financial market with financial market professionals. An important novelty of the experimental design is the use of a strategy-like method.

In this study, a photoluminescence‐based method is presented to reconstruct the current‐voltage characteristics of organic solar cells under operating conditions. By resolving exciton and free charge carrier luminescence, the method enables the identification of voltage‐dependent losses, including a potential field‐dependence of exciton dissociation ...
