Endoplasmic Reticulum Geometry Dictates Neuronal Bursting via Calcium Store Refill Rates and Exposes Selective Neuronal Vulnerability

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ER's continuous tubular network is maintained by ER‐shaping proteins whose mutation or dysregulation contributes to neurodegenerative diseases. Here, we show that ER morphology sets the speed of Ca2+ store replenishment between firing events. Disrupting ER continuity slows intra‐ER Ca2+ redistribution from extracellular refill (SOCE) sites, driving

Presume It Not: True Causes in the Search for the Basis of Heredity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Kyle Stanford has recently given substance to the problem of unconceived alternatives, which challenges the reliability of inference to the best explanation (IBE) in remote domains of nature.

A Soft Matrix Microenvironment Promotes Laterally Spreading Tumors via Oxidative Phosphorylation‐Dependent Cell Adhesion

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Laterally spreading tumors (LSTs) are precancerous colorectal lesions characterized by a flat morphology. This study reveals a mechanochemical pathway through which a soft matrix microenvironment diminishes spatial constraints in intestinal adenomas. This process promotes deficiencies in tight junction proteins, mediated by the mechanoreceptor ADORA2B ...

Lifestyle changes in descendants of parents with diabetes type 2 Cambio en los patrones de vida en descendientes de progenitores con diabetes mellitus tipo 2 del noreste de Mexico Mudança em os padrões de vida em descendentes de progenitores com diabetes mellitus tipo 2 do nordeste do México

open access: yesRevista Latino-Americana de Enfermagem, 2007
This study aimed to explore the disposition of diabetic parents' descendents in changing eating and physical activity patterns. It was based on the heritability concept and Prochaska's Transtheoretical Model.

On quasi-heredity and cell module homomorphisms in the symplectic blob algebra

open access: yes, 2017
This paper reports key advances in the study of the representation theory of the symplectic blob algebra. For suitable specialisations of the parameters we construct four large families of homomorphisms between cell modules.

DTX3L Inhibits the EMT, Metastasis, and Stem‐Like Features of Gastric Cancer Through Promoting GSK‐3β Dependent SNAI1 Decay

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This research identifies DTX3L as a critical tumor suppressor that inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT), invasion and metastasis in gastric cancer. By functioning as an E3 ubiquitin ligase, DTX3L targets the master EMT regulator SNAI1 for GSK‐3β‐dependent proteasomal degradation.

A prospective pilot study on DACHAO intervention for improving embryo quality metrics in IVF/ICSI failure cases

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology
Research questionEmbryo quality serves as a pivotal determinant in assisted reproductive technology (ART) outcomes, with high-grade embryos correlating with improved pregnancy/live birth rates but poor morphology elevating the risks of implantation ...
