In this nationwide inpatient database study of 5229 patients aged 70–79 years who underwent esophagectomy for cancer after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, overlap propensity score weighting analysis showed that neoadjuvant docetaxel‐based triplet regimen (docetaxel, cisplatin, and 5‐fluorouracil) was not associated with a higher incidence of perioperative ...

Congenital diaphragmatic hernia
Congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH) is a congenital anomaly consisting of a posterolateral defect in the diaphragm also known as a Bochdalek hernia. It occurs in 1 in 2000 to 3000 newborns and is associated with a variable degree of pulmonary hypoplasia (PH) and persistent pulmonary hypertension (PPH).

We developed a novel super subtotal gastrectomy (SSTG) technique for upper‐third gastric cancer near the esophagogastric junction. This method preserves the gastric fornix, a major site of ghrelin secretion, while maintaining an oral margin beyond the esophageal junction. SSTG offers a potential solution for reducing postoperative complications such as

Diastolic ventricular function in persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn
BackgroundPersistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN) is usually considered a consequence of impaired pulmonary circulation. However, little is known regarding the role of cardiac dysfunction in PPHN.

Overcoming the Force Limitations of Magnetic Robotic Surgery: Impact-based Tetherless Suturing [PDF]
Magnetic robotics obviate the physical connections between the actuators and end effectors resulting in ultra-minimally invasive surgeries. Even though such a wireless actuation method is highly advantageous in medical applications, the trade-off between the applied force and miniature magnetic end effector dimensions has been one of the main ...

ABSTRACT SETD2 has an essential role in epigenetic regulation. SETD2 pathogenic variants cause neurodevelopmental disorders (SETD2‐NDDs) that most commonly include various degrees of intellectual disability and behavioral disorders, macrocephaly, brain malformations, and generalized overgrowth.

Linea alba 3D morphometric variability by CT scan exploration [PDF]
Purpose: The width of the Linea alba, which is often gauged by inter-rectus distance, is a key risk factor for incisional hernia and recurrence. Previous studies provided limited descriptions with no consideration for width, location variability, or curvature.

Crossover from Reptation to Rouse dynamics in the Extended Rubinstein-Duke Model [PDF]
The competition between reptation and Rouse Dynamics is incorporated in the Rubinstein-Duke model for polymer motion by extending it with sideways motions, which cross barriers and create or annihilate hernias. Using the Density-Matrix Renormalization-Group Method as solver of the Master Equation, the renewal time and the diffusion coefficient are ...
