Robotic hernia repair : Part II: Robotic primary ventral and incisional hernia repair (rv‑TAPP and r‑Rives or r‑TARUP). Video report and results of a series of 118 patients.

open access: yesDer Chirurg; Zeitschrift fur alle Gebiete der operativen Medizen, 2021
Endoscopic management of umbilical and incisional hernias has adapted to the limitations of conventional laparoscopic instruments over the past 30 years.

Open Versus Laparoscopic Ventral Hernia Repair: A Randomized Clinical Trial

open access: yesCureus, 2021
Introduction With the advancement in technology as well as surgical techniques, laparoscopic ventral hernia repair (LVHR) is more commonly being performed as compared to open repair in various centres throughout the world.

A Tale of Two Lexica Testing Computational Hypotheses with Deep Convolutional Neural Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Gow's (2012) dual lexicon model suggests that the primary purpose of words is to mediate the mappings between acoustic-phonetic input and other forms of linguistic representation. Motivated by evidence from functional imaging, aphasia, and behavioral results, the model argues for the existence of two parallel wordform stores: the dorsal and ventral ...

Clinical study of mesh repair in ventral hernia with comorbidities (diabetes mellitus and/or obesity and/or hypothyroidism) in a tertiary care hospital

open access: yesAsian Journal of Medical Sciences
Background: Ventral hernias comprise the second-most common hernia presentation, or 21–35% of all hernia types in the surgical world. Ventral hernias include incisional, umbilical, epigastric, and spigelian hernias, among others.

Synchronous Hartmann reversal and incisional hernia repair is associated with higher complication rate compared to a staged procedure

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Post operative ventral hernias are common following Hartmann's procedure. There is a debate whether hernia repair is safe when performed concomitantly with colostomy closure.

Surgical Approach and Long-Term Recurrence After Ventral Hernia Repair

open access: yesJAMA Surgery
Key Points Question How do long-term operative recurrence rates for anterior abdominal wall (ventral) hernia compare after robotic-assisted, laparoscopic, and open hernia repairs?

Toward improved inference for Krippendorff's Alpha agreement coefficient [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
In this article I recommend a better point estimator for Krippendorff's Alpha agreement coefficient, and develop a jackknife variance estimator that leads to much better interval estimation than does the customary bootstrap procedure or an alternative bootstrap procedure.

Combining autologous ventral hernia repair using component separation with DIEP breast reconstruction

open access: yesJPRAS Open, 2015
Concern about flap viability and abdominal wall integrity would normally exclude a patient with a large ventral midline hernia from having a breast reconstruction with a deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap.

Minimally Invasive Approach Utilizing Linear Stapler for Midline Incisional Hernia: Stapler Repair Technique

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Stapler‐assisted midline hernia repair. ABSTRACT Aim We successfully established the stapler repair technique (SRT), a straightforward laparoscopic Rives‐Stoppa approach utilizing a linear stapler. This study retrospectively evaluated its short‐term outcomes to determine its safety and efficacy.

Crossover from reptation to Rouse dynamics in a one-dimensional model [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
A simple one-dimensional model is constructed for polymer motion. It exhibits the crossover from reptation to Rouse dynamics through gradually allowing hernia creation and annihilation. The model is treated by the density matrix technique which permits an accurate finite-size-scaling analysis of the behavior of long polymers.
