Endogenization and excision of human herpesvirus 6 in human genomes.
Sequences homologous to human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) are integrated within the nuclear genome of about 1% of humans, but it is not clear how this came about. It is also uncertain whether integrated HHV-6 can reactivate into an infectious virus.

The development of techniques for the culture of lymphoid cells and the isolation of viruses that infect these cells led to the discovery of human herpesvirus (HHV) 6 in 1986. At the time, HHV-6 was the first new human herpesvirus to be discovered in roughly a quarter of a century, and its isolation marked the beginning of an era of discovery in ...

Az 1986-ban felfedezett emberi 6-os herpeszvírus A és B változata molekuláris tulajdonságai alapján a legősibb emberi herpeszvírus. A B változat cseppfertőzéssel terjed a tünetmentes vírusürítő felnőttekről a két év alatti kisgyermekekre, akikben alkalmilag exanthema subitum jöhet létre.

Human herpesvirus 6 variant A (HHV-6A) and human herpesvirus 6 variant B (HHV-6B) are two closely related yet distinct viruses. These visuses belong to the Roseolovirus genus of the betaherpesvirus subfamily; they are most closely related to human herpesvirus 7 and then to human cytomegalovirus.

Human Herpesvirus 8 in Solid Organ Transplant Donors and Recipients: Need for Screening? A Dutch Seroprevalence Pilot Study. [PDF]
Abstract Human Herpesvirus 8 (HHV8) also called Kaposi's Sarcoma‐associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is endemic worldwide. It is particularly pathogenic in immunocompromised patients. HHV8 related disease is a rare but dreaded complication in Solid Organ Transplant (SOT) recipients.

Human Herpesvirus 6 and Neuroinflammation [PDF]
Human herpesvirus (HHV-) 6A and HHV-6B are two distinctβ-herpesviruses which have been associated with various neurological diseases, including encephalitis, meningitis, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. Although the reactivation of both viruses is recognized as the cause of some neurological complications in conditions of immunosuppression, their ...

Animal models of human herpesvirus 6 infection
Human herpesvirus (HHV)-6A and HHV-6B are two enveloped DNA viruses of β-herpesvirus family, infecting over 90% of the population and associated with several diseases, including exanthema subitum (for HHV-6B), multiple sclerosis and encephalitis ...
