Human Herpesvirus 6 and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
The cause of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is still enigmatic. Using indirect immunofluorescence testing for measuring antibody against human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6), this study investigated the association of CFS with infection by HHV-6.

Human herpesvirus-6 infections. [PDF]
HHV-6 is ubiquitous in the community, appears to be acquired early in life, and has been proved to cause the clinical syndrome of exanthem subitum, and rarely to cause encephalitis. Like other herpesviruses, HHV-6 is capable of establishing latent infection and reactivating under a variety of stimuli.

Glass eels and viruses – a lesson learnt from stocking the eastern German Baltic Sea coast
Abstract Concerns about Anguillid herpesvirus 1 (AngHV‐1) in European eels, especially due to stocking measures, is increasingly coming into focus and raises questions regarding disease monitoring and prevention. In the past, stocking of AngHV‐1‐positive eels into waters assumed AngHV‐1‐free has led to a rapid increase of infected eels in the wild. For

Human herpesvirus 6 and human herpesvirus 7 in chronic fatigue syndrome [PDF]
We analyzed lymphocytes of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) for the presence of human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and HHV-7 DNA. HHV-7 was present in over 80% of CFS patients and healthy controls, while the prevalence of HHV-6 variant A increased significantly in CFS cases (22 versus 4%; P = 0.05).
