Pityriasis Rosea in a Pregnancy

open access: yesGynecology Obstetrics & Reproductive Medicine, 2012
A pregnant woman with Pitriasis rosea whose lesion onset is in first trimester is presented. No interventions were undertaken and her eruption remitted completely 6-7 weeks. We found no evidence of active infection for HHV-6 and HHV-7.

Antibody Cross-Reactivity between Porcine Cytomegalovirus (PCMV) and Human Herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6)

open access: yesViruses, 2017
Porcine cytomegalovirus (PCMV) infection is widely prevalent among pigs, and PCMV is one of the viruses which may be transmitted during xenotransplantation using pig cells, tissues, or organs. While human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is a major risk factor for

A 2‐Min Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Awareness Video Improves Pregnant Women's Knowledge and Planned Adherence to Hygiene Precautions

open access: yesAustralian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Congenital cytomegalovirus (cCMV) is a leading infectious cause of life‐long neurodevelopmental disabilities, but public awareness of CMV is low. This study evaluated a short educational video on cCMV for its acceptability and impact on pregnant women's knowledge and planned hygiene adherence.

Human Pose Estimation using Motion Priors and Ensemble Models [PDF]

open access: yesPresented at the 2017 International Conference on Advanced Computer Science and Information Systems (ICACSIS), 2019
Human pose estimation in images and videos is one of key technologies for realizing a variety of human activity recognition tasks (e.g., human-computer interaction, gesture recognition, surveillance, and video summarization). This paper presents two types of human pose estimation methodologies; 1) 3D human pose tracking using motion priors and 2) 2D ...

Cryptococcal meningitis due to Cryptococcus neoformans VNI in a koala (Phascolarctos cinereus) with progressive neurological disease

open access: yesAustralian Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Nearly all cases of cryptococcosis in koalas are caused by Cryptococcus gattii species complex. A rare case of meningitis due to Cryptococcus neoformans VNI/AFLP1 (abbreviated VNI) is described in a koala with nasal colonisation by both species complexes.

CNS Complications of Primary Human Herpesvirus-6 Infection

open access: yesPediatric Neurology Briefs, 2007
Central nervous system manifestations of primary human herpesvirus-6 (HHV-6) are described in 9 children, ages 3 to 24 months, with HHV-6 DNA in the cerebrospinal fluid, in a prospective study at the University of Helsinki, and other centers in Finland.

Identification of chromosomally integrated human herpesvirus 6 by droplet digital PCR.

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2014
BACKGROUND Human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) latently infects a majority of adults. In about 1% of the population HHV-6 exists in a chromosomally integrated form (ciHHV-6) that resides in every somatic and germ cell and can be transmitted through the germ line.

Herpes simplex virus‐1 infection alters microtubule‐associated protein Tau splicing and promotes Tau pathology in neural models of Alzheimer's disease

open access: yesBrain Pathology, EarlyView.
HSV‐1 infection alters MAPT splicing and promotes Tau pathology in neural models of Alzheimer's disease. HSV‐1 infection in brain organoids and neuronal models increase 4R‐MAPT splicing and Tau hyperphosphorylation. HSV‐1 ICP27 is both necessary and sufficient for inducing these changes highlighting the potential role of HSV‐1 in Alzheimer's disease ...

Dual roles for the telomeric repeats in chromosomally integrated human herpesvirus-6

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2014
Approximately 1 percent of healthy individuals carry human herpesvirus-6 within a host chromosome. This is referred to as chromosomally integrated herpesvirus-6 (CIHHV-6). In this study, we investigated the chromosomal integration site in six individuals

A 37‐Year Retrospective Analysis Reveals a High Rate of Cutaneous Angiosarcoma of the Scalp in Okinawa, Japan

open access: yesCancer Science, Volume 116, Issue 4, Page 1059-1067, April 2025.
A 37‐year retrospective analysis has revealed an exceptionally high rate of angiosarcoma of the scalp in Okinawa, Japan. This study represents the first identification of Okinawa as a hotspot for this rare cancer, the epidemiology of which has been insufficiently studied.
