Travelling waves for an epidemic model with non-smooth treatment rates [PDF]
This is the post-print version of the final published paper that is available from the link below. Copyright @ 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd and SISSA.We consider a susceptible–infected–removed (SIR) epidemic model with two types of nonlinear treatment rates:

Optimisation of solar sail interplanetary heteroclinic connections [PDF]
This paper investigates time-optimal solar sail trajectories between displaced Libration Point Orbits (LPOs) of different circular restricted three-body systems. Key in the investigations is the search for transfers that require little steering ef-fort to enable the transfers with low control authority solar sail-like devices such as SpaceChips.

NMS Flows on S 3 with no Heteroclinic Trajectories Connecting Saddle Orbits [PDF]
By investigating the 3-manifold obtained from iterated connected sums of tori, the authors characterize the nonsingular Morse-Smale system (NMS) links of periodic orbits on \(S^3\) associated to round 1-handles. They obtain a correspondence between flows characterized by the links and the NMS flows on \(S^3\) that are connected sums of flows. They show

Metric methods for heteroclinic connections in infinite dimensional spaces [PDF]
We consider the minimal action problem min \int\_R 1/2 |$γ$'|^2 + W($γ$) dt among curves lying in a non-locally-compact metric space and connecting two given zeros of W $\ge$ 0. For this problem, the optimal curves are usually called heteroclinic connections.

ABSTRACT The leading‐order asymptotic behavior of the solution of the Cauchy initial‐value problem for the Benjamin–Ono equation in L2(R)$L^2(\mathbb {R})$ is obtained explicitly for generic rational initial data u0$u_0$. An explicit asymptotic wave profile uZD(t,x;ε)$u^\mathrm{ZD}(t,x;\epsilon)$ is given, in terms of the branches of the multivalued ...

The heteroclinic connection problem for general double-well potentials [PDF]
By variational methods, we provide a simple proof of existence of a heteroclinic orbit to a second order Hamiltonian ODE that connects the two global minima of a double-well potential.

Heteroclinic orbits between rotating waves of semilinear parabolic equation on the circle [PDF]
We investigate heteroclinic orbits between equilibria and rotating waves for scalar semilinear parabolic reaction-advection-diffusion equations with periodic boundary conditions.

Creation of single-wing Lorenz-like attractors via a ten-ninths-degree term
In light of the subtle connection between the strange attractors and the degree of dynamical systems, in this study, we propose a new simple asymmetric Lorenz-like system and report the finding of single-wing Lorenz-like attractors, which can also be ...

Symmetric Heteroclinic Connections in the Michelson System: A Computer Assisted Proof [PDF]
The author presents a new method for detecting symmetric homoclinic and heteroclinic solutions in systems possessing the reversing symmetry property. The approach is based on the modification of Zgliczyński's covering relations method. It should be emphasized that this new method can be applied also to the case of heteroclinic orbits between objects of

KPP Dynamics in Predator–Prey Models: A Survey and a Mussel–Algae Case Study
ABSTRACT We discuss traveling fronts in several coupled reaction–diffusion systems that model predator–prey interactions, as well as other systems that share similar structural features. We review some cases where the traveling fronts exist and are small perturbations of fronts in certain scalar equations of Fisher–KPP or Burgers–FKPP type.
