Extraction of Inherent Amplitude Mode from a Light Beam

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research
Mode extraction is the inverse process of the double‐beam superposition principle in classical optics. While polarization mode extraction has been successfully demonstrated using an m‐order vector vortex beam, amplitude mode extraction remains a ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Super-resolution three-dimensional structured illumination profilometry for in situ measurement of femtosecond laser ablation morphology

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2023
Femtosecond laser ablation has found wide-ranging applications in the surface structuring of nanoelectronics and nanophotonics devices. Traditionally, the inspection of the fabricated three-dimensional (3D) morphology was performed using a scanning ...

Optimal relaying in heterogeneous delay tolerant networks

open access: yes, 2011
In Delay Tolerant Networks (DTNs), there exists only intermittent connectivity between communication sources and destinations. In order to provide successful communication services for these challenged networks, a variety of relaying and routing ...

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Precipitation Thermodynamics in an Al–Zn–Mg Alloy with Different Grain Sizes

open access: yesMetals
In order to gain insight into the influence of grain size on precipitation thermodynamics, bulk materials of coarse-grained (CG), ultrafine-grained (UFG) (with or without dislocations), and nanocrystalline (NC) 7075 Al alloy have been fabricated by solid

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
