A simple P-wave polarization analysis: its application to earthquake location
We present a method for hypocentral location which takes into account all three components of ground motion and not only the vertical one, as it is usually done by standard least-square techniques applied to arrival times.

On the wave dynamics in damaged shells interacting with the volume of the cavitating liquid
We study the details of shock front propagation in the system of deformable medium (shells) with damages and two-phase liquid with gas or steam bubbles. We develop the models for the nonlinear processes of media interacting taking into account the phase ...

Random motion of a circle microswimmer in a random environment
We simulate the dynamics of a single circle microswimmer exploring a disordered array of fixed obstacles. The interplay of two different types of randomness, quenched disorder and stochastic noise, is investigated to unravel their impact on the transport

Drift perturbation’s influence on traveling wave speed in KPP-Fisher system
This paper dressed the drift perturbation effects on the traveling wave speed in a reaction-diffusion system. We prove the existence of a traveling front solution of a KPP-Fisher equation and we show an asymptotic expansion of her speed.

Catastrophic Rupture Induced Damage Coalescence in Heterogeneous Brittle Media
In heterogeneous brittle media, the evolution of damage is strongly influenced by the multiscale coupling effect. To better understand this effect, we perform a detailed investigation of the damage evolution, with particular attention focused on the ...

The Photobook Within and As a Heterogeneous Media Environment
This proposal suggests that the multiple Artists and Photographs, rather than being an assemblage of photographic art works, constitutes a heterogeneous media environment in which the relationship between the book and photography is renegotiated and put ...

Composite dynamic models for periodically heterogeneous media [PDF]
Propagation of elastic waves through discrete and continuous periodically heterogeneous media is studied. A two-scale asymptotic procedure allows us to derive macroscopic dynamic equations applicable at frequencies close to the resonant frequencies of ...

Avalanche dynamics for active matter in heterogeneous media
Using numerical simulations, we examine the dynamics of run-and-tumble disks moving in a disordered array of fixed obstacles. As a function of increasing active disk density and activity, we find a transition from a completely clogged state to a ...
