Inversion in Heterogeneous Media
2001In Chapter 3, we created our first inversion formulas for the three-dimensional inverse-scattering imaging problem. We formulated the problem for the special case of data collected with a zero-offset recording geometry, and assumed a constant-background wavespeed.

Ultrasonic Wave Propagation in Heterogeneous Media
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010Piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers typically employ composite structures to improve their transmission and reception sensitivities. The geometry of the composite is regular with one dominant length scale and, since these are resonant devices, this dictates the central operating frequency of the device. In order to construct a wide bandwidth device it

Heterogeneous media events processing systems
Proceedings of the 2004 ACM SIGMM workshop on Effective telepresence, 2004A key challenge to the successful application of the data modeling, storage and retrieval is the processing of relevant media to determine the events that are represented by them. Towards this goal, we are developing a heterogeneous media events processing system that combines human expertise with algorithmic processing capabilities.

Ultrasound Emitter Localization in Heterogeneous Media
2007 29th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2007A novel algorithm to accurately determine the location of an ultrasound source within heterogeneous media is presented. The method obtains a small spacial error of 748 microm+/-310 microm for 100 different measurements inside a circular area with 140 mm diameter. The new algorithm can be used in targeted drug delivery for cancer therapies as well as to

The paper summarizes the results of investigations performed to obtain deep 3-D holograms with 102 i0 mkm physical thickness allowing the postexposure amplification and the a posteriori changing of the grating parameters. This aim has been achieved by developing heterogeneous systems on the basis of porous glass with light-sensitive compositions ...

Home Media Access with Heterogeneous Devices
International Journal of Virtual Communities and Social Networking, 2015The intensive use of social content anywhere and from any device presents new challenges for current systems and networks particularly when they are used by novice users. One of the most places where social channels are used by non-expert users and with a wide range of devices is at home.
