Technology Integration Framework for Fast and Low Cost Handovers—Case Study: WiFi-WiMAX Network

open access: yesJournal of Computer Systems, Networks, and Communications, 2010
The Next Generation Wireless Networks (NGWNs) are seemed to be heterogeneous networks based on the integration of several wireless technologies. These networks are required to achieve performances equivalent to classic wireless networks by ensuring the ...

Vertical handover algorithm based on multi-attribute and neural network in heterogeneous integrated network

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Wireless Communications and Networking, 2020
A novel vertical handover algorithm based on multi-attribute and neural network for heterogeneous integrated network is proposed in this paper. The whole frame of the algorithm is constructed by setting the network environment in which we use the network

Connectivity Support in Heterogeneous Wireless Networks

open access: yes, 2011
Recent advances in wireless technology and decreasing costs of portable devices strongly contributed to increase the popularity of mobile communications. Wireless communication and device integration have lead to the so-called nomadic computing (or mobile computing) where portable devices (such as laptop and handheld computers) allow users to access ...

A Pressure Microsensor Made of Parylene‐C for Use as Medical Implant

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A monolithic parylene‐C pressure sensor with gold strain gauges provides 6.2 μV$\mu{\rm V}$·mmHg$\cdot{\rm mmHg}$−1$^{-1}$ sensitivity. The morphology of a sputtered thin film strain sensor is granular/columnar, which results in a high gauge factor of 7.5. Thermal bonding and parylene‐C coating create a hermetic cavity.

Hierarchical Multi‐Material Architectures With Gradient Design for Dynamic‐Range Flexible Tactile Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Hierarchical multi‐material TPMS lattices are engineered as flexible tactile sensors by combining soft and stiff elastomeric layers with a conformal conductive coating. The bilayer architecture delivers sensitivity at low pressures while maintaining a broad detectable range under large loads, enabling reliable pressure and vibration monitoring for ...

An interference mitigation approach for a dense heterogeneous wireless sensor network

open access: yes, 2015
A dense multi-hop wireless sensor network usually faces a scalability problem since the distance between cluster heads could be high, which causes relatively low throughput and high latency between the sink node and cluster heads.

Solid Particle‐Liquid Metal Mixtures for Robust High‐Current Interconnects in Stretchable Electronics and Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Metallic microparticles dispersed in liquid metal interconnects mitigate electromigration‐induced failure by reconfiguring internal current density distributions. These fillers facilitate the growth of a robust, protective gallium oxide shell at elevated temperatures, shifting the failure threshold toward a thermal limit.
