Scattering states of a particle, with position-dependent mass, in a ${\cal{PT}}$ symmetric heterojunction

open access: yes, 2012
The study of a particle with position-dependent effective mass (pdem), within a double heterojunction is extended into the complex domain --- when the region within the heterojunctions is described by a non Hermitian ${\cal{PT}}$ symmetric potential ...

Mesoscopic Description of Heterojunctions

open access: yesJournal de Physique I, 1996
Starting from the microscopic current associated with the single-electron wave functions and using Wannier functions suitably generalized for nonperiodic heterostructures we construct mesoscopic (either discrete or continuous) conserved currents associated with states having components only in the considered band.

Tailoring Hole‐Blocking Layers Enables a Versatile Approach for Fast Photomultiplication‐Type Organic Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the role of hole‐blocking layers (HBLs), particularly the combination of two HBLs in photomultiplication‐type organic photodetectors (PM‐OPDs), which results in high gain and record‐fast response. The proposed HBL strategy also allows for the use of photoactive layer with balanced donor–acceptor stoichiometry, which can be ...

Boundary states in graphene heterojunctions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of the Solid State, 2010
A new type of states in graphene-based planar heterojunctions has been studied in the envelope wave function approximation. The condition for the formation of these states is the intersection between the dispersion curves of graphene and its gap modification. This type of states can also occur in smooth graphene-based heterojunctions.

Excitonic Emission Modulation in GaSe/MoS2 Van Der Waals Heterostructure Via Plasmonic Control of Interlayer Charge Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Plasmonic hybridization enables control of light emission in 2D van der Waals heterojunctions. By stacking multilayer GaSe and monolayer MoS2 on a silver film, light emission is enhanced at the edges due to plasmonic effects. In the center, where these effects are absent, charge transfer led to reduced light emission.

Biomolecule-assisted synthesis of carbon nitride and sulfur-doped carbon nitride heterojunction nanosheets: An efficient heterojunction photocatalyst for photoelectrochemical applications

open access: yesBeilstein Journal of Nanotechnology, 2014
A biomolecule-assisted pyrolysis method has been developed to synthesize sulfur-doped graphitic carbon nitride (CNS) nanosheets. During the synthesis, sulfur could be introduced as a dopant into the lattice of carbon nitride (CN).

Electronic Interface Reconstruction at Polar-Nonpolar Mott Insulator Heterojunctions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report on a theoretical study of the electronic interface reconstruction (EIR) induced by polarity discontinuity at a heterojunction between a polar and a nonpolar Mott insulators, and of the two-dimensional strongly-correlated electron systems ...

Integration of Perovskite/Low‐Dimensional Material Heterostructures for Optoelectronics and Artificial Visual Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Heterojunctions combining halide perovskites with low‐dimensional materials enhance optoelectronic devices by enabling precise charge control and improving efficiency, stability, and speed. These synergies advance flexible electronics, wearable sensors, and neuromorphic computing, mimicking biological vision for real‐time image analysis and intelligent
