Erasing the line between homosexual and heterosexual advertising : a perspective from the educated youth population [PDF]

open access: yesThe Retail and Marketing Review, 2014
The ‘pink dollar’ or ‘dream market’ is a relatively untapped market that is idealised by marketers for its profit potential. As a result, it is of significant interest to marketing practitioners who aim to invest in this billion dollar industry. However,

Heterosexual Rejection and Mate Choice: A Sociometer Perspective

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2015
Previous studies about the effects of social rejection on individuals’ social behaviors have produced mixed results and tend to study mating behaviors from a static point of view.

Influence of Geometric Design on Mechanical Performance of Auxetic Metastructure

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Strategic geometric reinforcement transforms auxetic performance. This study evaluates 3D‐printed arrowhead metastructures, revealing that a modified design with local ring reinforcement suppresses premature failure to achieve superior energy absorption and structural efficiency.

Prenatal Influences on Sexual Orientation: Digit Ratio (2D:4D) and Number of Older Siblings

open access: yesEvolutionary Psychology, 2011
Prenatal androgen levels are suggested to influence sexual orientation in both sexes. The 2D:4D digit ratio has been found to associate with sexual orientation, but published findings have often been contradictory, which may partly be due to the large ...

School Absenteeism and Mental Health among Sexual Minority Youth and Heterosexual Youth

open access: yesJournal of School Psychology, 2014
Adolescent school absenteeism is associated with negative outcomes such as conduct disorders, substance abuse, and dropping out of school. Mental health factors, such as depression and anxiety, have been found to be associated with increased absenteeism ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Grain Refinement During Severe Plastic Deformation and Similitude of Subgrain Formation: A Molecular Dynamics Study

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Molecular dynamics is used to investigate structure refinement during severe plastic deformation. The results show similitude with experimental data. Molecular dynamics simulations of severe plastic deformation of monocrystalline and polycrystalline samples by multiaxial compression of aluminum are carried out.

Lifetime victimization, hazardous drinking and depression among heterosexual and sexual minority women

open access: yesLGBT Health, 2014
Purpose: Substantial research documents sexual-orientation-related mental health disparities, but relatively few studies have explored underlying causes of these disparities.

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.
