Abstract In a sample of coral sand from the intertidal zone of Asdhu Island, in the Male Nord Atoll of the Maldive Islands (Indian Ocean), three species of Florarctinae belonging to the two genera Florarctus and Wingstrandarctus were found. They are Florarctus hulingsi Renaud‐Mornant, 1976, Florarctus pulcher n.

Numerous specimens of adults and juveniles of Actinarctus doryphorus have been found in a coarse coralligenous detritus of the Secche della Meloria in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Integrative description of five Pseudechiniscus species (Heterotardigrada: Echiniscidae: the suillus-facettalis complex)

Pseudechiniscus is a morphologically homogeneous heterotardigrade genus with a relatively low number of morphological features useful for the species discrimination. The species of the Pseudechiniscus suillus-facettalis complex are some of the most challenging tardigrades to identify.

Two new species of the genus Styraconyx (Tardigrada : Heterotardigrada)

Two new species : Styraconyx sardiniae and S. tyrrhenus (Tardigrada : Halechiniscidae) were found in organogenous debris and posidonian meadows samples. These samples dredged from the Orosei Gulf (Sardinia, Tyrrhenian Sea), came from depth of -20, -80 m and they were very rich in mciofauna.

First records of two Heterotardigrada (Tardigrada) species in Slovakia

Currently, ninety-five species and subspecies of Tardigrada are known in Slovakia (DEGMA et al., 2004). During sampling of moss-dwelling tardigrades in various regions of Slovakia, two additional species have been found on this territory for the first time.

Echiniscus semifoveolatus Ito, 1993 (Tardigrada: Echiniscidae) is reported as a new record for China, and was collected from the Mt. Jinggang, Jiangxi, and the Wuyi Mountains, south-eastern China. This is the first report of this species from outside the type locality, Mt. Fuji, central Japan.

A new Stygarctidae from South Tyrrhenian Sea (Tardigrada, Heterotardigrada)

In a coralligenous detritus from the Southern Tyrrhenian Sea, Pseudostygarctus mirabilis sp.nov., a new species of Stygarctidae, has been found. The species is here described and its affinities with P. triungulatus and Mesostygarctus intermedius are discussed.
