Transformations of Heun’s equation
1995Abstract The equation (1.1.1) is taken as the canonical form of Heun’s equation, but in order to investigate it, or to make use of it in applications, we often need to transform it into other forms. This chapter is devoted to such transformations.

Abstract The Heun class of linear second-order ODEs is generated by the Heun equation –the Fuchsian equation with four singularities. The Heun equation was first studied by K. Heun [51]. A hundred years later, a centennial workshop on the Heun equation was organized by A. Ronveaux, A. Seeger, and W.

General features of Heun’s equation
1995Abstract The seven parameters are not all on the same footing. The parameter a locates the third finite singularity and can appropriately be called the singularity parameter, while α, β, γ, δ, ϵdetermine (subject to (1.1.2)) the exponents at the four singularities and can be called the exponent parameters; finally, q is called the ...

Painlevé equations as classical analogues of Heun equations
Journal of Physics A: Mathematical and General, 1996Summary: A relationship between the Heun class of second-order linear equations and Painlevé second-order nonlinear equations is studied. The symbol of the Heun class equations is regarded as a quantum Hamiltonian. The independent variable and the differentiation operator correspond to the canonical variables and one of the parameters of the equation ...

Solutions of the confluent Heun equation
1995Abstract We present a draft classification of solutions of the GSE (1.2.18) and the CHE (1.2.27). These solutions are analytical functions of the independent variable on a Riemannian surface with punctured singularities of the CHE. The first type of solutions are those which have prescribed behaviour at a certain singular point.
