Starting from equations obeyed by functions involving the first or the second derivatives of the biconfluent Heun function, we construct two expansions of the solutions of the biconfluent Heun equation in terms of incomplete Beta functions.

Novel Structures of Gallenene Intercalated in Epitaxial Graphene
This paper explores the creation of 2D gallium by intercalation beneath epitaxial graphene (Gr) on silicon carbide, achieved through confinement epitaxy. The observation of novel superstructures, including a hexagonal Gr‐12 × 12 moiré and a striped Gr‐5 × 1 pattern is reported.

The burden of cognitive impairment
Abstract INTRODUCTION Over 10% of older American adults (age ≥ 65) experience cognitive impairment (CI) from Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). An additional 15%–22% experience mild cognitive impairment (MCI), often preceding ADRD and in earlier life.

Exact phonon quasibound states around an optical black hole
In this work, we present an exact solution of phonon quasibound states in a vortex photon flow that creates an analogous black hole background. We worked out and successfully solve the governing differential equation of the systen that is similar with ...

Quantum particle motion on the surface of a helicoid in the presence of an harmonic oscillator
The geometric potential in quantum mechanics has been attracted attention recently, providing a formalism to investigate the influence of curvature in the context of low-dimensional systems.

In this article, we derive a non‐hydrostatic extension to the SWE to solve bottom‐generated waves along with its pressure relation. This relation is built on a linear vertical velocity assumption, leading us to a quadratic pressure profile, where we alternatively write it so that we can solve it by a projection method without ambiguity due to the ...

A special case of the biconfluent Heun equation which is not reducible to a form of a hypergeometric equation is solved by means of a Laplace transform. The solutions are double series which exhibit a type of orthogonality comparable in some respects to ...

We study the propagation of massless fermionic fields, implementing a family of special functions: Heun functions, in solving the wave equation in three three-dimensional backgrounds, including the BTZ black hole in string theory and Lifshitz black hole ...

Heun equation, Teukolsky equation, and type-D metrics
Starting with the whole class of type-D vacuum backgrounds with cosmological constant we show that the separated Teukolsky equation for zero rest-mass fields with spin $s=\pm 2$ (gravitational waves), $s=\pm 1$ (electromagnetic waves) and $s=\pm 1/2 ...
