As other state-of-the-art block-based inter-prediction codec, it is very sensitive to illumination variations in-between frames. To cope with this limitation, the weighted prediction (WP) tool has been proposed.

2016 Picture Coding Symposium (PCS), 2016HEVC encoders impose several challenges in resource-constrained embedded applications, especially under real-time and battery constraints. This paper proposes a complexity-scalable encoder that is able to achieve considerable time savings while maintaining an efficient rate-distortion-complexity tradeoff.
