Hexachlorocyclohexane (HCH) is a highly recalcitrant organochlorine insecticide known for its chronic toxicity. In spite of many isolated studies a clear mechanism of cytotoxic action of HCH and the structure-toxicity relationship of its isomers is not well understood.
