Fluorescent Anemones in Japan—Comprehensive Revision of Japanese Actinernoidea (Cnidaria: Anthozoa: Actiniaria: Anenthemonae) with Rearrangements of the Classification

open access: yesDiversity, 2023
Actinernoidea is a superfamily of the suborder Anenthemonae of the order Actiniaria, subclass Hexacorallia. This superfamily has been diagnosed by a peculiar endocoeletic mesenterial arrangement and included two families, Actinernidae and Halcuriidae ...

Cnida Morphology as Taxonomic Tools within Tube-Dwelling Anemones (Ceriantharia, Cnidaria)

open access: yesOceans
Cnidome morphology appears to be a valuable tool for anthozoan (Octocarallia, Ceriantharia, and Hexacorallia) taxonomy. Ceriantharian cnidomes consist of b-mastigophores, isorhizas, spirocysts, and ptychocysts, including different subtypes.

Biogeography of endosymbionts (Symbiodiniaceae) associated with zoantharian species (Hexacorallia: Anthozoa) from the Macaronesia and Cape Verde ecoregions

open access: yesCoral reefs, 2022
Populations of some zoantharian species (Cnidaria: Anthozoa) have been able to proliferate in locations where abiotic conditions hinder scleractinian corals’ survival.

Genera of orders Actiniaria and Corallimorpharia (Cnidaria, Anthozoa, Hexacorallia), and their type species* [PDF]

open access: yesZootaxa, 2007
We determined the type species, if any, for the 425 genera of the order Actiniaria and for the 19 genera of order Corallimorpharia.  In Actiniaria, 393 genera have a clear type species; 46 generic names are homonyms, 17 of which are senior, 26 of which are junior (six have been replaced), and three are both junior and senior.
