Inter-layer potential for hexagonal boron nitride [PDF]

open access: yesThe Journal of Chemical Physics, 2014
A new interlayer force-field for layered hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) based structures is presented. The force-field contains three terms representing the interlayer attraction due to dispersive interactions, repulsion due to anisotropic overlaps of electron clouds, and monopolar electrostatic interactions.

Photonic crystal cavities from hexagonal boron nitride [PDF]

open access: yesNature Communications, 2018
AbstractDevelopment of scalable quantum photonic technologies requires on-chip integration of photonic components. Recently, hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) has emerged as a promising platform, following reports of hyperbolic phonon-polaritons and optically stable, ultra-bright quantum emitters.

Evolution of nanopores in hexagonal boron nitride [PDF]

open access: yesCommunications Chemistry, 2023
AbstractThe engineering of atomically-precise nanopores in two-dimensional materials presents exciting opportunities for both fundamental science studies as well as applications in energy, DNA sequencing, and quantum information technologies. The exceptional chemical and thermal stability of hexagonal boron nitride (h-BN) suggest that exposed h-BN ...

Low temperature self-densification of high strength bulk hexagonal boron nitride

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Sintering hexagonal boron nitride until it is more than 96% dense remains a challenge. Here, the authors mix cubic boron nitride particles into hexagonal boron nitride flakes and sinter the combined powders to obtain dense hexagonal boron nitride ...
