Imaging Electric Polarization Switching in Multilayer Graphene

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Domain wall sliding‐induced electric polarization switching is directly observed for the first time in multilayer graphene, enabled by a novel optical readout method. The polarization switching is realized upon application of global and local electric fields, and mechanical forces between neighboring polar domains of opposite out‐of‐plane polarizations

Isoperimetric Inequalities on Hexagonal Grids

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the edge- and vertex-isoperimetric probem on finite and infinite hexagonal grids: For a subset W of the hexagonal grid of given cardinality, we give a lower bound for the number of edges between W and its complement, and lower bounds for the number of vertices in the neighborhood of W and for the number of vertices in the boundary of W. For

Geometric Properties of a Regular Hexagonal Lattice Caused by Phi Relationship

open access: yes
This paper presents some results of the first investigations on the application of the recently discovered existence of Phi (F ) relationship within a regular hexagonal tessellation and is based on the influence of this geometric relation on the analysis

Beyond Percolation: Graphene‐Enabled Network Reinforcement Enhances Thermal Transport in Paraffin Phase‐Change Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Expanded‐graphite/graphene‐nanoplatelet hybrids deliver a near‐order‐of‐magnitude thermal‐conductivity enhancement in paraffin phase‐change materials. A microCT‐informed 3D modeling framework resolves the percolating EG backbone and captures sub‐voxel GNP enrichment, quantitatively linking microstructure to heat flow and revealing a graphene‐enabled ...

Beyond d‐Band Catalysis: A Critical Review and Descriptor Framework for Rare‐Earth Engineering in Lithium–Sulfur Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Rare‐earth catalysts regulate lithium–sulfur battery chemistry through f‐orbital–mediated interactions, enabling simultaneous polysulfide adsorption and catalytic conversion on conductive carbon hosts. This synergistic control suppresses the shuttle effect, accelerates redox kinetics, and guides stable Li2S nucleation, providing a mechanistic framework

Synergistic Enhancement of Electrical‐Thermal Properties in KH550/G‐POSS Functionalized BN/Epoxy Composites for High‐Frequency Transformer Insulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A BN@G‐POSS/EP nanocomposite is developed for high‐frequency transformer insulation in power electronic transformers. Through synergistic interface engineering, it simultaneously enhances thermal conductivity, reduces viscosity, and improves electro‐thermal stability.

The Spatiotemporal Genetic Architecture of Seed Vigor in Upland Cotton

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Leveraging the semi‐automated SeedRanger platform, we profiled the germination kinetics of 356 cotton accessions at a 30‐min interval. This high‐throughput phenomic approach delineated a temporal genetic network comprising 541 stage‐specific loci. Crucially, functional validation identified FLA2 as a pivotal, auxin‐modulated regulator that orchestrates

The Impact of Hexagonal grid on thePrincipal Component of Natural Images

open access: yes, 2018
The visual processing in the real world is different from the digital world. Monkey’s and a human’s visual world is richer and more colourful affording sight of flies, regardless of whether they are immobile or airborne.

Growth‐Pathway‐Controlled van der Waals Epitaxy of Phase‐Selective Tin Sulfides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Growth‐pathway‐controlled van der Waals epitaxy enables deterministic phase selection and strain engineering in tin sulfide/WSe2 heterostructures. Direct growth of SnS induces substrate‐mediated strain and phase evolution, whereas sequential growth through an SnS2 buffer suppresses strain transfer and stabilizes pristine α‐SnS, revealing a versatile ...

Hexagonal discrete global GRID systems for geospatial computing

open access: yes, 2011
Advanced geospatial applications often involve complex computing operations performed under sometimes severe resource constraints. These applications primarily rely on traditional raster and vector data structures based on square lattices. But there is a
