Non-orthogonal version of the arbitrary polygonal C-grid and a new diamond grid [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development, 2014
Quasi-uniform grids of the sphere have become popular recently since they avoid parallel scaling bottlenecks associated with the poles of latitude–longitude grids. However quasi-uniform grids of the sphere are often non-orthogonal. A version of the

Approximation on the hexagonal grid of the Dirichlet problem for Laplace’s equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The fourth order matching operator on the hexagonal grid is constructed. Its application to the interpolation problem of the numerical solution obtained by hexagonal grid approximation of Laplace’s equation on a rectangular domain is investigated ...

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

WAVELET BASED METHOD FOR REMOVING GAUSSIAN NOISE USING BY REPRESENTING IMAGES IN HEXAGONAL LATTICE

open access: yesICTACT Journal on Image and Video Processing, 2016
Human Visual System (HVS) is for acquiring, processing, analyzing, and understanding the images and this is a natural process. The image acquisition, processing, analysing and understanding the images are electronically duplicated in Computer vision.

Strong enhancement of p + ip and d + id topological superconductivity on a center-decorated honeycomb lattice

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics
Using the constrained-path quantum Monte Carlo method, we investigate the superconducting and charge properties of the extended Hubbard model on a center-decorated honeycomb lattice, which includes nearest-neighbor attraction ( V _1 ) and third-nearest ...

Microscopic Insights into Magnetic Warping and Time‐Reversal Symmetry Breaking in Topological Surface States of Rare‐Earth‐Doped Bi2Te3

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic doping of the topological insulator Bi2Te3 with erbium adatoms induces out‐of‐plane magnetism and breaks time‐reversal symmetry, opening a Dirac gap and driving a Fermi surface transition from hexagonal to star‐of‐David geometry. Microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic dichroism reveal atomically controlled magnetic interactions that tailor the

Tissue-like P system for Segmentation of 2D Hexagonal Images

open access: yesARO-The Scientific Journal of Koya University, 2016
Membrane computing, which is a new computational model inspired by the structure and functioning of biological cells and by the way the cells are organized in tissues. MC has been adopted in many real world applications including image segmentation.

Resolving the Structural Duality of Graphene Grain Boundaries

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Cantilever ncAFM resolves the atomic structure of grain boundaries in graphene, revealing coexisting stable and metastable types. Both contain pentagon/heptagon defects, but metastable GBs show irregular geometries. Modeling shows metastable GBs form under compression, exhibiting vertical corrugation, while stable GBs are flat.

A memory model of rodent spatial navigation in which place cells are memories arranged in a grid and grid cells are non-spatial

open access: yeseLife
A theory and neurocomputational model are presented that explain grid cell responses as the byproduct of equally dissimilar hippocampal memories. On this account, place and grid cells are best understood as the natural consequence of memory encoding and ...
