Three-directional structural characterization of hexagonal packed nanoparticles by hexagonal digital moiré method

We present the hexagonal digital moiré method for three-directional structural characterization of hexagonal packed nanostructures. A mismatch between a three-way grating and a nanoparticle assembly is shown to produce hexagonal moiré fringes due to the interference between three groups of parallel moiré patterns.

Structure of Hexagonal Silver Iodide

A detailed three-dimensional refinement of the structure of hexagonal silver iodide from room-temperature photographic data showed very little deviation from the ideal wurtzite-type structure. Using anisotropic temperature factors a final R value of 6.6% was obtained. The space group is P63mc, a=4.592, c=7.510, c/a=1.635, μ=0.3747.

The magnetic structure of hexagonal ErAl3

Abstract Hexagonal ErAl3 has been studied by neutron diffraction and the magnetic structure has been determined. ErAl3 orders antiferromagnetically with the moments directed along the c-axis. The observed magnetic moment is 6.15 μB at 2.15° K.

The higher rigidity of a lightweight mirror structure with core ribs that form hexagonal cells, as compared with triangular cells, is demonstrated by holographic deflection measurements on 75-cm diam acrylic structural models.

The band structure of hexagonal NbN

Abstract Energy bands for hexagonal NbN are calculated. Comparison with previous results for carbides and nitrides leads to the hypothesis that in hexagonal structure (WC) they should be semimetals. Anomalous behaviour of degenerate band near Fermi energy is explained.
