Nonperiodic hexagonal square-triangle tilings
Physical Review B, 1998Received 22 April 1998; revised manuscript received 2 July 1998The structural properties of two nonperiodic square-triangle tilings of the plane with sixfold symmetry aredescribed. Simple deterministic inflation rules for constructing the tilings are proposed. One of the tilings isquasiperiodic with bounded fractal acceptance domain.

DNA Triangles and Self-Assembled Hexagonal Tilings
Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2004We have designed and constructed DNA complexes in the form of triangles. We have created hexagonal planar tilings from these triangles via self-assembly. Unlike previously reported structures self-assembled from DNA, our structures appear to involve bending of double helices.

Symmetric designs on hexagonal tiles of a hexagonal lattice
Journal of Mathematics and the Arts, 2012In his paper ‘A Class of Pleasing Periodic Designs’, Fernandez utilized the union of several sublattices of a square lattice to generate a design on a square tile of the Cartesian plane such that the design, the tile and the lattice have the same rotational and reflectional symmetries.
