Automatic Determination of Quasicrystalline Patterns from Microscopy Images
This work introduces a user‐friendly machine learning tool to automatically extract and visualize quasicrystalline tiling patterns from atomically resolved microscopy images. It uses feature clustering, nearest‐neighbor analysis, and support vector machines. The method is broadly applicable to various quasicrystalline systems and is released as part of

Rhombus Tilings of a Hexagon with Three Fixed Border Tiles
We compute the number of rhombus tilings of a hexagon with sides $a+2,b+2,c+2,a+2,b+2,c+2$ with three fixed tiles touching the border. The particular case $a=b=c$ solves a problem posed by Propp. Our result can also be viewed as the enumeration of plane partitions having $a+2$ rows and $b+2$ columns, with largest entry $\le c+2$, with a given number of

Tilings of Diamonds and Hexagons with Defects [PDF]
We show how to count tilings of Aztec diamonds and hexagons with defects using determinants. In several cases these determinants can be evaluated in closed form. In particular, we obtain solutions to open problems 1, 2, and 10 in James Propp's list of problems on enumeration of matchings.

Form flows function: Learner‐centered game Re‐design in a STEM classroom
Abstract Re‐designing games facilitates interest‐driven learning and immerses learners in systems thinking. However, there are limited studies exploring how the form and function of tabletop games influence learners' design decisions and learning experiences. To address this gap, we conducted a mixed‐methods study in a STEM classroom in western Canada.
