Transcriptomic, proteomic and biochemical comparison of luminescent and non‐luminescent Keroplatinae larvae (Diptera: Keroplatidae)

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Transcriptomic and proteomic comparison of luminescent O. fultoni and non‐luminescent Neoditomyia sp show that the substrate binding fraction (SBF) has a similar abundance of hexamerins and the presence of flavin‐dependent reductases. In addition to the high content of keroplatin, SBF also contains considerable amounts of riboflavin and displays ...

Corrigenda to the checklist of the Collembola (Hexapoda) of Belarus

open access: yesКавказский энтомологический бюллетень
Сomments and corrections are provided for the checklist of Collembola of Belarus published previously, in which some records of families and genera were misplaced. Additionally, an error was noticed in the reference to Isotomurus maculatus (Schäffer, 1896), which should instead refer to Orchesella bifasciata Nicolet, 1842.

The genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes of the carrot weevil, Listronotus oregonensis, reveal adaptive mechanisms for host specialisation and symbiotic interactions

open access: yesInsect Molecular Biology, EarlyView.
Comprehensive genome and stage‐specific transcriptomes reveal 14,637 genes in Listronotus oregonensis, advancing genetic insights into a key agricultural pest. Compared with related species, L. oregonensis exhibits reduced chemoreceptor gene families but expanded detoxification gene clusters, reflecting its narrow host range and adaptability.

Micro-terraforming by Antarctic springtails (Hexapoda: Entognatha) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Natural History, 2015
ABSTRACTIt has long been an axiom of Antarctic terrestrial ecology that interactions between terrestrial invertebrates and their abiotic environment are unidirectional: they are affected by their extreme environment in numerous ways, but they themselves do not affect their environment.

Stable isotope analysis of ectoparasites as a tool for understanding trophic interactions with mammalian hosts

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
Ectoparasites showed significant δ15N enrichment compared to their hosts, indicating trophic enrichment, but δ13C preservation varied. Lice, fleas and ticks preserve their hosts' isotopic fingerprints to varying degrees, with lice reflecting host dietary patterns most closely, likely due to their exclusive, host‐specific feeding behaviour. The presence

Diet evolution and clade richness in Hexapoda : a phylogenetic study of higher taxa [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Hexapoda, the insects and their relatives, includes over half of all described species. Because large proportions of this diversity cluster within a small set of phytophagous groups, dietary-substrates have been proposed to shape patterns of richness ...
