Adenovirus 36 hexon epitope identification

open access: yes, 2014
Adenovirus 36 (AdV36) is associated with obesity in humans, but current testing methods for the virus are complex and time-consuming. The purpose of this study was to identify AdV36-specific antibody binding sites (epitopes) for use in a rapid ELISA to ...

Immune-complexed HAdV-C5: role of IgGs, physical characteristics, and anti-hexon Abs.

open access: yes, 2016
The effect of IgG-opsonization on HAdV-C5 particle size, stability, and aggregation, and how it affects MoDC maturation was assessed. A) TNF secretion by MoDCs incubated with LPS, HAdV-C5, IVIg and IC-HAdV formed using a fixed dose of 20,000 pp/cell HAdV-

Intracellular trafficking of adenovirus protein II (Hexon) and its significance with respect to design of non-viral Gene delivery system

open access: yes, 2012
A successful non-viral gene delivery system needs to accomplish its tasks by delivering the therapeutic gene to the nucleus of the targeted cell. To do so, the system needs to cross the cell membrane, travels towards the nuclear pore complex, and enters ...

Crystallization of an Adenovirus Protein (The Hexon)

Nature, 1968
ICOSAHEDRAL capsids of adenoviruses are each composed of 252 capsomeres1 of which 240—situated at the faces and sides of the triangular facets—are called hexons, and the remaining 12—situated at the vertices—are called pentons2,3. The hexons are approximately spherical, with a diameter of 80 A, whereas the pentons consist of a base which is ...

Physical studies with adenovirus hexon antigens

Life Sciences, 1967
Abstract Purified hexon antigens were prepared from adenovirus infected cell cultures of types 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, and 12. Molecular size was determined by molecular sieve chromatography. Types 2, 5, 6, 7, and 12 had molecular weights ranging from 182,000–204,000 ± 10%. Type 1 hexon antigen yielded a value of 236,000 ± 10%.
