Densification of ultra-refractory transition metal diboride ceramics [PDF]
The densification behavior of transition metal diboride compounds was reviewed with emphasis on ZrB2 and HfB2. These compounds are considered ultra-high temperature ceramics because they have melting temperatures above 3000°C.

HfB2-doped ZrB2-30 vol.% SiC composites: oxidation resistance behavior
To investigate the HfB _2 on microstructure and oxidation resistance of ZrB _2 -30 vol% SiC, ZrB _2 -30 vol% SiC composites with different amounts of HfB _2 (4, 8, and 12 vol%) were consolidated by Spark Plasma Sintering method (SPS).

Effect of Milling Time on the Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of HfB2-ZrB2-TiB2 Sintered via SPS [PDF]
The aim of this research was to investigate the effect of milling time on the properties of HfB2-ZrB2-TiB2 ceramic. For this purpose, HfB2, ZrB2, and TiB2 powders with equal volume ratios were ground for 15, 30, and 45 hours and sintered using spark ...

Comparison of ZrB2-SiC, HfB2-SiC and HfB2-SiC-Y2O3 oxidation mechanisms in air using LIF of BO2(g) [PDF]
Abstract The oxidation behaviour of ZrB2-SiC, HfB2-SiC and HfB2-SiC-Y2O3 is studied using the real-time Laser-Induced Fluorescence (LIF) detection of BO2(g) evaporated from samples heated up to 1873K in dry air. For each composition, the relevant steps of oxidation (silica formation, volatilization, etc.) can be precisely determined.
