Advances in High‐Temperature Microwave‐Absorbing Materials With Rare Metals: Preparations, Classifications, and Strategies

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT High‐temperature microwave‐absorbing materials (HTMAMs) are vital for the electromagnetic stealth of hypersonic aircraft and aerospace engines. Traditional carbon‐based or magnetic‐based absorbers suffer from oxidation, Curie‐temperature limitations, and impedance mismatch under extreme conditions.

Confinement in Metal‐Organic Frameworks as a Route to Harnessing Liquid Barocalorics in the Solid‐State

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 87, 29 October 2026.
Encapsulation of solid–liquid barocalorics (BC) within MOFs harnesses their colossal BC performance whilst allowing active control of BC properties through BC‐MOF interactions. ABSTRACT Barocaloric (BC) effects at liquid–vapor transitions in hydrofluorocarbons drive most commercial technologies used for heating and cooling in the heating, ventilation ...

Ablation Behavior of HfC Coating Prepared by Supersonic Plasma Spraying for SiC-Coated C/C Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Composites Letters, 2015
In order to improve the ablation resistance of C/C composites HfC coating was deposited on the surface of SiC-coated C/C composites by supersonic atmospheric plasma spraying. The microstructure and morphology of the different coatings were characterized by Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray diffraction.

Acetoacetates Derived From Vegetable Oils: A Platform for Tailor‐Made Vinylogous Urethane Foams

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 84, 19 October 2026.
A renewable vegetable oil is converted into acetoacetate‐functionalized precursors for the preparation of catalyst‐free vinylogous urethane foams. Room‐temperature foaming with n‐pentane generates lightweight cellular materials, while the choice of amine enables control over foam structure and mechanical properties.

Optimization of Si3N4 interfacial adhesion with nitride and carbide coatings

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Silicon nitride (Si3N4) has a wide range of applications. In microelectronic devices, it serves as a dielectric and protective layer and is deposited on a silicon substrate and subsequently covered by another coating for further protection. The stability

Epitope mapping of hFc binding Sso7d mutants.

open access: yes, 2012
(A) Yeast surface displayed hFc was subjected to thermal denaturation at 99°C and subsequently detected using Sso7d-hFc or Protein A. Binding to Protein A is completely abolished, whereas binding to Sso7d-hFc is only slightly reduced.

Linking Oxide Scale Evolution to Thermal Shock Failure in Zirconium Carbide

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Zirconium carbide (ZrC) is an ultra‐high‐temperature ceramic valued for its excellent thermomechanical properties, yet its vulnerability to oxidation and its thermal shock behavior upon oxidation remain insufficiently understood. This study examines how prior oxidation history, defined by cyclic exposure temperature and duration, affects the ...
