Decarbonising Respiratory Care: The Impact of a Low‐Carbon Salbutamol Pressurised Metered‐Dose Inhalers

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Healthcare systems contribute up to 5% of global GHG emissions, with inhalers contributing a proportion of these. The carbon footprint of current salbutamol inhalers (pMDI with HFA‐134a propellant and DPI) and a planned salbutamol pMDI with low‐GWP propellant HFA‐152a was quantified across seven countries.

Robust compression and detection of epileptiform patterns in ECoG using a real-time spiking neural network hardware framework

open access: yesNature Communications
Interictal Epileptiform Discharges (IED) and High Frequency Oscillations (HFO) in intraoperative electrocorticography (ECoG) may guide the surgeon by delineating the epileptogenic zone. We designed a modular spiking neural network (SNN) in a mixed-signal

Supercritical water deasphalting and desulphurization of heavy fuel oil with comprehensive molecular‐level analysis and techno‐economic analysis

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, Volume 104, Issue 4, Page 1727-1742, April 2026.
Supercritical water deasphalting. Abstract The removal of sulphur from heavy fuel oil (HFO) is essential to address environmental concerns and comply with the stringent regulations imposed by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2020. Previously, the acceptable limit for sulphur was 3.5 wt.%, but it was recently changed to 0.5 wt.%.

Continuous negative extrathoracic pressure combined with high-frequency oscillation improves oxygenation with less impact on blood pressure than high-frequency oscillation alone in a rabbit model of surfactant depletion

open access: yesBioMedical Engineering OnLine, 2007
Background Negative air pressure ventilation has been used to maintain adequate functional residual capacity in patients with chronic muscular disease and to decrease transpulmonary pressure and improve cardiac output during right heart surgery.

Fast ripple‐delta coupling as an early biomarker for post‐traumatic epileptogenesis in repetitive brain injury

open access: yesEpilepsia Open, Volume 11, Issue 2, Page 409-421, April 2026.
Abstract Objective Traumatic brain injury (TBI) can induce posttraumatic epilepsy (PTE), but early biomarkers for epileptogenesis are lacking. We aimed to investigate electrographic biomarkers before and during posttraumatic seizure development. Methods We used a repetitive diffuse TBI model in mice with continuous video‐EEG monitoring up to 4½ months ...

Thermal Properties Model for the New Refrigerant HFO-1234yf

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2012
Based on Peng-Robinson general state equation, combined with group contribution principle and a polynomial method, the thermal state model of the new LGWP refrigerant HFO-1234yf was established and validated with required accuracy.
