The Performance of Carbon-Based Nanomaterials in Different Base Oils and an Oil Blend
Different carbon-based nanomaterials (fullerenes, graphene, SWCNTs, and SWCNT-COOH) were tested as additives in a base mineral oil, SN150; rapeseed oil (RSO); and a 50/50 by volume blend of the two using an HFRR (high-frequency reciprocating rig) tester ...

The Effect of Temperature and Asphaltene Content on the Lubricating Properties of Fuel Oils
During coal-based power generation, fuel oil is used to assist with ignition of pulverised coal. Fuel oil passes through several pieces of equipment on its way to the burner section of the boiler.

Squeezing molecular thin alkane lubrication films between curved solid surfaces with long-range elasticity: Layering transitions and wear [PDF]
The properties of alkane lubricants confined between two approaching solids are investigated by a model that accounts for the curvature and the elastic properties of the solid surfaces. We consider linear alkane molecules of different chain lengths, C3H8,

Use of biodiesel produces engine oil dilution because of unburned biodiesel impinging on cold walls of the combustion chamber, being scrapped to the oil pan, and leading to changes of oil friction, wear and lubricity properties. In this paper, mixtures of SAE 15W‐40 oil, which were contaminated by known percentages of the biodiesels from canola oil ...

FAP- Anion Ionic Liquids Used in the Lubrication of a Steel–Steel Contact [PDF]
This study compares the tribological behavior of two ionic liquids ([BMP][FAP] and [(NEMM)MOE][FAP]) used as oil additive for the lubrication of a steel–steel contact. Friction and wear experiments were performed using a HFRR test machine.

Characterization of Tribofilm from Sulfurized Mohwa Oil
The reaction products of sulfurized Mohwa oil with iron powder in hydrocarbon medium at 150°C for 8 h were studied to investigate the type of lubricant films formed during their application as antiwear and extreme pressure additives. The main reaction product was isolated on the basis of its solubility in mixed solvent.

Modified Oxymethylene Ethers Based on Technical Alcohol Mixtures and their Fuel Properties
A modified oxymethylene ether (OME) synthesis based on C5 and C9 technical alcohol mixtures was developed. The produced compounds can be employed as neat fuel or as blending component for fossil or paraffinic diesel fuels. The modification of OME offers the possibility to adjust desired properties, enabling the evaluation of new application fields ...
