Mercury (II) Removal From Stock Solutions Using Pulsed Electrochemical Technique Coupled With Biochar Adsorbent

open access: yesChemistryOpen, Volume 15, Issue 5, May 2026.
Pulsed electrooxidation combined with magnetic biochar adsorption achieved up to 98.9% Hg(II) removal from synthetic water. Optimal conditions (pH‐6.03, 34.15 min, 1.55 g/L biochar, 0.43 A, 227 mg/L Hg) enhanced efficiency beyond electrooxidation alone, demonstrating a synergistic, energy‐efficient treatment approach.

Association Between Hemoglobin Glycation Index and Mortality in Critically Ill Patients With Atrial Fibrillation: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesClinical Cardiology, Volume 49, Issue 4, April 2026.
In 10,159 critically ill patients with atrial fibrillation, a low hemoglobin glycation index (HGI) independently predicted higher short‐ and long‐term mortality. This association was significantly stronger in patients with elevated BMI and was partially mediated by red blood cell distribution width (RDW), supporting HGI as a potential risk ...
