Human herpes viruses are associated with classic fever of unknown origin (FUO) in Beijing patients. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
Few reports have examined the viral aetiology of fever of unknown origin (FUO).This study determined the prevalence of human herpes virus (HHV) DNA in blood of Chinese patients with classic FUO using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and explored the ...

Antigenic analysis of human herpesvirus 7 (HHV-7) and HHV-6 using immune sera and monoclonal antibodies against HHV-7.

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1997
Using polyclonal and monoclonal (MAbs) antibodies to human herpesvirus 7 (HHV-7), we have studied HHV-7-specific polypeptides. Human sera were obtained during the convalescent phase from patients with exanthem subitum due to HHV-7, and at least 16 HHV-7-specific polypeptides with apparent molecular masses of 26-210 kDa were immuno-precipitated.

Development of an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for diagnosis of human herpesvirus-7 infection

open access: yesRevista da Sociedade Brasileira de Medicina Tropical, 2020
INTRODUCTION: Human herpesvirus (HHV)-7 establishes a latent infection during the lifetime of the host and can reactivate after the primary infection, leading to lytic replication in immunosuppressed patients.

Searching for the Human Herpes 6, 7 (PCR) in CSF of Children Admitted to the Pediatric Ward of Hazrat Rasool Hospital of Tehran

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2011
Introduction & Objective: The role and frequency of HHV-6 and HHV-7 in central nervous system (CNS) diseases of our children are unclear. The aim of this study was to search for the presence of HHV-6 & HHV-7 DNA-s in CSF samples in children with ...

Detection of human herpesvirus 7 in conjunctival samples collected from individuals recovering from conjunctivitis

open access: yesFrontiers in Ophthalmology
PurposeAlthough it is often reported that adenovirus is the most common etiology for infectious conjunctivitis, a recent multi-center clinical study found that adenovirus was confirmed by polymerase chain reaction in only 16% of cases presenting with ...

Occult hepatitis B virus infections (often with human herpesvirus 7 co-infection) detected in Pityriasis rosea patients: A pilot study

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dermatology, 2017
Background: The etiopathogenesis of Pityriasis rosea (PR), a papulo-squamous skin disease, remains elusive and hypothesized to be caused primarily by human herpesvirus (HHV) 6 or 7 or immune dysfunction.

A pilot study: Salivary human herpesvirus‐6 and human herpesvirus‐7 responses to different types of acute exercise in healthy young men

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
This study examined the effects of different types of acute exercise on salivary expression levels of human herpesvirus 6 (HHV‐6) and 7 (HHV‐7). In a randomized crossover trial, 11 healthy untrained men performed a continuous exercise (CE) trial (20 min ...

Association of Active Human Herpesvirus-6, -7 and Parvovirus B19 Infection with Clinical Outcomes in Patients with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

open access: yesAdvances in Virology, 2012
Frequency of active human herpesvirus-6, -7 (HHV-6, HHV-7) and parvovirus B19 (B19) infection/coinfection and its association with clinical course of ME/CFS was evaluated. 108 ME/CFS patients and 90 practically healthy persons were enrolled in the study.

Cytomegalovirus and Human Herpesvirus 6 and 7: Diseases and Diagnosis in Transplantation

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1993
Similarities and differences in the epidemiology of cytomegalovirus (CMV), human herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) and human herpesvirus 7 (HHV-7) infections are reviewed. Several distinct laboratory methods have been described for each virus.
