Multistability and bifurcations in a 5D segmented disc dynamo with a curve of equilibria
Multistability, i.e., coexisting attractors, is one of the most exciting phenomena in dynamical systems. This paper presents a new category of coexisting hidden attractor: five-dimensional (5D) systems with a curve of equilibria.

Hidden Dynamics and Hybrid Synchronization of Fractional-Order Memristive Systems
A fractional-order memristive system without equilibrium is addressed. Hidden attractors in the proposed system are discussed and the coexistence of a hidden attractor is found.

Hidden Bifurcations and Attractors in Nonsmooth Dynamical Systems [PDF]
We investigate the role of hidden terms at switching surfaces in piecewise smooth vector fields. Hidden terms are zero everywhere except at the switching surfaces, but appear when blowing up the switching surface into a switching layer. When discontinuous systems do surprising things, we can often make sense of them by extending our intuition for ...

Collagen hydrolysate is evaluated as a sustainable binder for MgO‐C refractories. Its thermally induced cross‐linking and gas release lead to expansion and cracking in large bricks, but tailored batches with lignin, recyclates, or fine graphite improve the gas release while thermal treatment and stability.

Infinitely Many Coexisting Attractors in No-Equilibrium Chaotic System
This paper proposes a new no-equilibrium chaotic system that has the ability to yield infinitely many coexisting hidden attractors. Dynamic behaviors of the system with respect to the parameters and initial conditions are numerically studied.

Deterministic polarization chaos from a laser diode
Fifty years after the invention of the laser diode and fourty years after the report of the butterfly effect - i.e. the unpredictability of deterministic chaos, it is said that a laser diode behaves like a damped nonlinear oscillator.

Fostering Innovation: Streamlining Magnetocaloric Materials Research by Digitalization
Magnetocaloric cooling (MCE) is an environmentally friendly refrigeration method with great potential. Optimizing MCE materials involves the preparation and screening of large quantities of samples, which in turn generates a large amount of data. A digitalization approach is presented that uses ontologies, knowledge graphs, and digital workflows to ...

Directed current due to broken time-space symmetry
We consider the classical dynamics of a particle in a one-dimensional space-periodic potential U(X) = U(X+2\pi) under the influence of a time-periodic space-homogeneous external field E(t)=E(t+T).
