The Bayesian Hidden Markov Chain Modeling of the Ghana COVID-19 Blood Type Infection Distribution
This work uses the Bayesian Poisson-Hidden Markov Model (BP-HMM) to develop a model that properly describes the blood type distribution among newly diagnosed COVID-19 patients.

Extension of HMM-Based ADL Recognition With Markov Chains of Activities and Activity Transition Cost
Ambient assisted living in smart home environments is becoming an important goal in an aging society with challenges in elderly care. A key component in such environments is the accurate recognition of activities of daily living from various sensor data.

Radiometric Constraints on the Timing, Tempo, and Effects of Large Igneous Province Emplacement
Exploring the links between Large Igneous Provinces and dramatic environmental impact
An emerging consensus suggests that Large Igneous Provinces (LIPs) and Silicic LIPs (SLIPs) are a significant driver of dramatic global environmental and biological changes, including mass extinctions.

Bayesian segmentation of hyperspectral images
In this paper we consider the problem of joint segmentation of hyperspectral images in the Bayesian framework. The proposed approach is based on a Hidden Markov Modeling (HMM) of the images with common segmentation, or equivalently with common hidden ...

Male weaponry evolution is often linked to male–male competition, but its relationship with breeding site type remains unclear. Using Leptodactylinae frogs, we found a macroevolutionary correlation between breeding site type and weapon evolution. Also, gains and losses of weapons occurred more frequently in exposed‐breeding sites, an unexpected finding.

Abstract Background Research based on embodied cognition has demonstrated that physical posture, particularly an upright seated posture, can influence emotions and cognition. However, although students spend most of the day sitting in classrooms, intervention research on upright seated postures suitable for learning environments is limited.

UTILIZING DISCRETE HIDDEN MARKOV MODELS TO ANALYZE TETRAPLOID PLANT BREEDING
In plant heredity, the phenotype is the result of observation that can be directly observed, while the genotype is the underlying hidden factor that underlies the expression of the phenotype.

Enhanced Map-Matching Algorithm with a Hidden Markov Model for Mobile Phone Positioning
Numerous map-matching techniques have been developed to improve positioning, using Global Positioning System (GPS) data and other sensors. However, most existing map-matching algorithms process GPS data with high sampling rates, to achieve a higher ...
