Abstract Cerambyx welensii Küster (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is a wood‐borer responsible for the decline of Mediterranean oaks in open woodlands. To establish that contact pheromones are involved in mate recognition of C. welensii, we extracted the cuticular hydrocarbons by solid phase microextraction at pre‐reproductive, beginning and ending of the ...

Abstract The Columbrets Basin is the largest Mesozoic rift basin of the Valencia Trough in the Western Mediterranean. The analysis of a seismic‐reflection survey makes it possible to reconstruct the tectonic fabric underlying the sedimentary basin, including the structure of the top of the lower crust and the Moho.

Oral transmission of Chagas disease from a One Health approach: A systematic review
Abstract Objective To analyse acute Chagas disease (CD) outbreaks through a qualitative systematic review and discuss the determinants for its prevention and control. Methods Review of studies in which clinical cases of oral transmission were confirmed by parasitological and/or serological tests that included an epidemiological investigation of sources

Abstract Aboveground liquid storage tanks are often found on weak compressive soil due to their proximity to harbours and rivers. These soil conditions lead to a high probability of significant soil‐structure interaction (SSI) under earthquake loading.

Abstract We investigate the relationship between the long‐term (Quaternary) interplate coupling and the short‐term geodetically derived interseismic coupling at the Central Ecuador subduction zone. At this nonaccretionary margin, the Cabo Pasado shelf promontory and coastal area are associated with two inter‐plate geodetically locked patches.

Modeling population effects of the Deepwater Horizon oil spill on a long‐lived species
Abstract The 2010 Deepwater Horizon (DWH) oil spill exposed common bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops truncatus) in Barataria Bay, Louisiana to heavy oiling that caused increased mortality and chronic disease and impaired reproduction in surviving dolphins. We conducted photographic surveys and veterinary assessments in the decade following the spill.

Erosional surfaces and deposits linked to the Messinian Salinity Crisis are restored to their original depth by planform flexural‐isostatic backstripping. A large seismic dataset covering the Western Mediterranean is used to constrain the current depth of Messinian markers, and by matching the water level to interpreted shoreline markers at the bottom ...

In this paper I argue that assemblage theory provides an innovative way to extend critique of sustainable development as it is being remade by the 2015 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Drawing on recent fieldwork in Bolivia, I examine the early take‐up and implementation of the SDGs in a site of intensifying resource extraction and ...

Protecting biodiversity and economic returns in resource‐rich tropical forests
Abstract In pursuit of socioeconomic development, many countries are expanding oil and mineral extraction into tropical forests. These activities seed access to remote, biologically rich areas, thereby endangering global biodiversity. We examined how protection of biodiversity and economic revenues can be balanced in biologically valuable regions ...
