Amphibians After Disease-Induced Declines: Genetic Insights Into Population Recoveries. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Infectious diseases can cause severe population declines, reducing genetic diversity, ecological function, and prospects for long‐term survival. Such declines often result in genetic bottlenecks, with small, isolated populations that are especially vulnerable to extinction due to genetic drift and inbreeding.

Ontogenetic shifts in wood anatomy and leaf traits in tropical dry forests. [PDF]
Summary Trees experience changes in environmental conditions and biophysical constraints as they grow that may lead to shifts in functional traits. While ontogenetic shifts in leaf traits are relatively well understood, changes in wood anatomy traits from seedlings to adults are less clear, especially in tropical dry forests where drought strongly ...

Colombia and other tropical regions face a very high threat from torrential floods, which have resulted in over 25,000 deaths in a single event. Unfortunately, there is no comprehensive assessment methodology to zone and determine the magnitude of these disasters; therefore, this research aims to help fill this gap.

Maximum water stress is decoupled from climate, traits, and growth in a xeric oak
We sampled sites across the geographic distribution of blue oak (Quercus douglasii) in California, USA, which spans a large range of mean annual precipitation. Summary Our ability to explain and predict the spatial patterns of forest mortality remains limited.
