3D Printing of Polymers with Hierarchical Continuous Porosity

Advanced Materials Technologies, 2017
AbstractCellular thermoplastic structures with multiscale porosity (1–300 µm microporosity to 0.3–10 mm macroporosity) are produced from an integrated approach of 3D printing by Fused Deposition Modeling printing and Supercritical CO2 Foaming. Porous strands and related hierarchical structures are processed in one continuous step. Influence of printing

Hollow Carbon Nanopolyhedra for Enhanced Electrocatalysis via Confined Hierarchical Porosity

Small, 2017
A novel strategy for the fabrication of hollow Co and N‐codoped carbon nanopolyhedra (H‐CoNC) from metal–organic framework (MOF) using in situ evaporation of ZnO nanosphere templates is proposed. The excess Zn supply during the pyrolysis process is found beneficial in terms of high nitrogen (≈9.75 at%), relatively homogenous CoN bonding, and the ...

TiO2 anatase-based membranes with hierarchical porosity and photocatalytic properties

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2006
Taking benefit of previously obtained results, stable complex organic-inorganic hybrid suspensions are successfully prepared by mixing a polystyrene latex aqueous suspension, a titania hydrosol and a nonionic triblock copolymer. These suspensions can be then deposited as thin films on dense or porous substrates.

Hierarchical nanoporous melamine resin sponges with tunable porosity—porosity analysis and CO2 sorption properties

Journal of Materials Chemistry, 2011
Meso- and microporous melamine resins were synthesized via hard-templating of silica nanoparticles. The porous structure was characterized by X-ray scattering, gas sorption methods and electron microscopy. Ultramicroporosity was proven in CO2-sorption measurements. Porosities up to 61% and surface areas up to 250 m2 g−1 were achieved.

Titanosilicate Beads with Hierarchical Porosity: Synthesis and Application as Epoxidation Catalysts

Chemistry – A European Journal, 2010
AbstractPorous titanosilicate beads with a diameter of 0.5–1.5 mm (TiSil‐HPB‐60) were synthesized from a preformed titanosilicate solution with a porous anion‐exchange resin as template. The bead format of this material enables its straightforward separation from the reaction mixture in its application as a liquid‐phase heterogeneous catalyst.

Bulk gold with hierarchical macro-, micro- and nano-porosity

Materials Science and Engineering: A, 2011
Abstract Millimeter-sized, free-standing gold structures were created with three levels of multiscale porosity. First, macro- and microporosity, which are useful for mass and heat transport within the structure, are formed within an Ag–19 at.% Au alloy by salt powder replication during powder densification and by entrapped gas expansion during ...

Facile synthesis of ZSM-5 composites with hierarchical porosity

J. Mater. Chem., 2008
Hierarchically structured composites (TUD-M) with ZSM-5 nanocrystals embedded in a well-connected mesoporous matrix were synthesized by employing only one organic templating/scaffolding molecule (TPAOH). Micro- and mesopores form separately under different synthesis conditions.

Ordered bimetallic nanostructures with hierarchical porosity and their applications

SPIE Proceedings, 2006
We describe how two different kinds of ordered bimetallic nanostructures (Au/Pt, Au/Ag) with hierarchical porosity, such as macroporous nanostructures and nanostructures constructed from hollow spheres, can be selectively and conveniently fabricated by a general template technique on silicon wafers and on glass substrates, and how such nanostructures

High surface area carbon aerogel monoliths with hierarchical porosity

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 2008
Abstract This letter describes the synthesis and structural characterization of monolithic carbon aerogel (CA) materials that possess both high surface areas and hierarchical porosity. Thermal activation of a macroporous CA structure, one that was derived from an acetic acid-catalyzed sol–gel polymerization reaction, yields monolithic materials with ...
