Critical role of HIFU in musculoskeletal interventions
La radiologia medica, 2014Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound surgery (MRgFUS) is a totally noninvasive ablation technique that in the last years had an important development in a large number of applications: in particular gynaecological disorders, bone lesions, prostate, breast, brain and other organs. This review of MRgFUS is focused on the technical aspects and the

Prostate cancer recurrence after radiation therapy might be cured with different treatment modalities (radical prostatectomy, HIFU, cryotherapy). All whole-gland salvage therapy approaches carry the potential of serious morbidity from the development of urethro-rectal fistula, severe urinary incontinence, and urethral stenosis.

[HIFU in urological oncology].
Der Urologe. Ausg. A, 2008The growing interest in high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) technology is mainly due to its many potential applications as a new energy source and as noninvasive therapy. It has been introduced to urological oncology as a transrectal treatment for prostate cancer and as extracorporeal treatment for kidney cancer.

HIFU Tissue Ablation: Concept and Devices
2016High intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is rapidly gaining clinical acceptance as a technique capable of providing non-invasive heating and ablation for a wide range of applications. Usually requiring only a single session, treatments are often conducted as day case procedures, with the patient either fully conscious, lightly sedated or under light ...
