Adaptive HIFU noise cancellation for simultaneous therapy and imaging using an integrated HIFU/imaging transducer [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics in Medicine and Biology, 2010
It was previously demonstrated that it is feasible to simultaneously perform ultrasound therapy and imaging of a coagulated lesion during treatment with an integrated transducer that is capable of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and B-mode ultrasound imaging.

Nonsurgical Aesthetic Improvement of the Neck: A Multimodal, Experience‐Based Algorithmic Approach

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Aesthetic aging of the neck is usually multifactorial, reflecting variable contributions from submental and cervical adiposity, dermal and septal laxity, platysmal activity, skeletal deficiency, and loss of lower‐face support. Isolated nonsurgical treatment may therefore underperform when the dominant anatomical driver is not ...

Comparative Analysis of Clinical Efficacy of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Ablation and Radiofrequency Ablation in Patients with Benign Breast Tumors

open access: yesTechnology in Cancer Research & Treatment
Introduction: This study compared the efficacy, complications, and related indicators of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound Ablation (HIFU) and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) for treating benign breast tumors, aiming to provide effective evidence-based ...

Development of temperature controller-integrated portable HIFU driver for thermal coagulation

open access: yesBioMedical Engineering OnLine, 2019
Background Temperature monitoring during high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) therapy on tissue is essential to regulate the degree of thermal coagulation and to achieve the desired treatment outcomes eventually.

Delivering Proteins and Enzymes to Solid Tumors Through the Development of Stimuli‐Responsive Nanocarriers

open access: yesChemNanoMat, Volume 12, Issue 6, June 2026.
Stimuli‐responsive strategies to achieve controlled release of protein‐based therapeutic agents into solid tumors. Proteins, enzymes, and peptides have long been recognized as valuable therapeutic agents, particularly in oncology. However, their complex chemical structures render them more sensitive than smaller chemotherapeutic drugs.

A computational tool for evaluating HIFU safety.

open access: yesAnnali dell'Istituto superiore di sanita, 2017
High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a noninvasive treatment for therapeutic applications, in particular the treatment of either benign or malignant tumor lesions. HIFU treatment is based on the power of a focused ultrasound beam to locally heat biological tissues over a necrotic level with minimal impact on the surrounding tissues.

Comparison of the SMI Technique and CEUS for the Assessment of Microvasculature in Leiomyosarcoma and Its Clinical Value for Application

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, Volume 54, Issue 5, Page 1079-1087, June 2026.
SMI and CEUS can clearly reflect the microvascular situation in fibroids and effectively guide the clinical treatment of patients with uterine fibroids, but the effect of SMI is better than that of CEUS in guiding the treatment of patients, which can provide a reference for the selection of clinical treatment programs.

HIFU for Palliative Treatment of Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yes, 2016
Pancreatic cancer is one of the deadliest malignancies, with only a 6 % 5-year survival rate and over 50 % of patients being diagnosed at the advanced stage. Current therapies are ineffective, and the treatment of patients with advanced disease is palliative.

Theranostic Advancements in Brain Cancer: Promising Approaches for Emerging Therapy

open access: yesMedComm – Oncology, Volume 5, Issue 2, June 2026.
Strategies for improving intra‐arterial administration (A) and photodynamic therapy in brain cancer (B). Improving intra‐arterial (IA) administration and photodynamic therapy (PDT) for brain cancer involves enhancing tumor targeting and breaching the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Key strategies include super selective catheterization, using osmotic agents
