The strategy of engineering nanogel network topology is developed to achieve iterative activation of mechanophores upon high‐frequency and low‐intensity ultrasound. This places the nanogel system among the systems that can respond to the ultrasound with the highest frequency and lowest intensity as well as have the fastest activation rate so far.

Tissue-mimicking thermochromic phantom for characterization of HIFU devices and applications
Purpose: Tissue-mimicking phantoms (TMPs) are synthetic materials designed to replicate properties of biological tissues. There is a need to quantify temperature changes following ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging-guided high intensity focused ...

Introduction Uterine fibroids are the most common benign tumors in healthy women. High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) is a modern, noninvasive thermal ablation method for treating uterine fibroids. There is increasing evidence that ultrasound guided

Abstract Objective Medical devices are reviewed by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for safety and effectiveness. Class II devices can receive 510(k) clearance if they are “substantially equivalent” to an existing predicate device. This process can be repeated iteratively, leading to a lineage of predicates for newly cleared devices.

High-intensity focused ultrasound ablation to increase tumor-specific lymphocytes in prostate cancer
Treatment options for localized prostate cancer have been expanded by FDA-approval of High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). Prostate cancer typically has few tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes, which are crucial for antitumor immunity.

Interventional oncology in children: Where are we now?
Abstract Paediatric Interventional Oncology (IO) lags behind adult IO due to a scarcity of specific outcome data. The suboptimal way to evolve this field is relying heavily on adult experiences. The distinct tumour types prevalent in children, such as extracranial germ cell tumours, sarcomas, and neuroblastoma, differ strongly from those found in ...

AI-powered ultrasonic thermometry for HIFU therapy in deep organ
High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is considered as an important non-invasive way for tumor ablation in deep organs. However, accurate real-time monitoring of the temperature field within HIFU focal area remains a challenge.

HIFU ultrasound power measurements at INRiM
In this work the new system for the ultrasound power measurement of High Intensity Focused Ultrasound transducers realized at INRIM ultrasounds laboratory is presented. The system is based on a submersible load cell that takes the place of the balance. This solution presents essentially two advantages.
