Fabrication and characterization of high entropy pyrochlore ceramics

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio, 2023
High-entropy rare-earth (RE) zirconates with pyrochlore structure were successfully fabricated by pressureless and spark plasma sintering. RE2Zr2O7 compound with nominal composition (La0.2Y0.2Gd0.2Nd0.2Sm0.2)Zr2O7 was prepared by simple glycine nitrate ...

Investigation of the thermal expansion and heat capacity of the CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The thermal expansion of the CaCu3Ti4O12 ceramics has been measured over a wide temperature range 120–1200 K. The high quality of the samples under study has been confirmed by good agreement of the results of measurements of the heat capacity in the ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and Trimetallic (NiFeCr) Nanoalloys from Metal Oxides Using a Microwave Hydrogen Plasma

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

Low-temperature densification of high-entropy (Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,Mo)C—Co composites with high hardness and high toughness

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Ceramics, 2022
In order to prepare high toughness (Ti,Zr,Nb,Ta,Mo)C ceramics at low temperatures while maintaining high hardness, a liquid-phase sintering process combined with Co-based liquid-phase extrusion strategy was adopted in this study.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Distribution of Electrical Resistivity in Single Carbon Fiber Filaments and Its Correlation With Tensile Modulus

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A statistical framework is applied to quantify the distribution of electrical resistivity among individual filaments of two commercially available carbon fiber types. Correlations between filament resistivity, tensile modulus, and diameter are examined and complemented by TEM analysis to provide new insight into filament‐level variability relevant for ...
