Robotic Assisted Laparoscopic Prostatectomy after High Intensity Focused Ultrasound Failure
Background. Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in men. As new focal therapies become more popular in treatment of prostate cancer, failure cases requiring salvage therapy with either surgical or other techniques are being reported ...

High-intensity focused ultrasound: past, present, and future in neurosurgery.
Since Lynn and colleagues first described the use of focused ultrasound (FUS) waves for intracranial ablation in 1942, many strides have been made toward the treatment of several brain pathologies using this novel technology. In the modern era of minimal

Liver hemostasis using high-intensity focused ultrasound
Liver hemorrhage, the major cause of death in hepatic trauma, is notoriously difficult to control. We report on the use of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) to arrest the bleeding from incisions made in rabbit livers. A HIFU transducer, with a spherically curved aperture of 6.34 cm2 area, a focal length of 4 cm and a frequency of 3.3 MHz was ...

Novel ferrocene derivatives (e.g., FcPhc2) are used as an ultrathin layer hole‐blocking layer, reducing hole injection from the Ag contact. This results in an ultralow noise spectral density of 1.2 × 10−14 A Hz−1/2, and a high specific detectivity of 8.1 × 1012 Jones at −0.5 V.

Tissue atomization by high intensity focused ultrasound
Liquid atomization and fountain formation by focused ultrasound was first published by Wood and Loomis [1]. Since then, the cavitation-wave hypothesis emerged to explain atomization in a fountain, which states atomization arises from a combination of surface capillary waves and the collapse of cavitation bubbles.
